I saw you sitting on the road,
In the middle of the night.
Just another passerby,
As I walked by like light.

I looked up for a second,
And saw your eyes were dark
Like Lucifer with sleepless nights.
One second and I was marked.

Your eyes saw into my soul,
And tainted me with the night.
The smell of burning singed the air,
As you consumed my light.

I stopped and stood in front of you,
My mouth forming a question.
But no sound could escape,
As though this was my confession.

In the infinite cold,
I reached to touch your hand, 
Hoping to melt the ice,
Trying to turn time and sand.

We sat there on the road, 
In the middle of the night,
As other passersby,
Walked by like light.

We waited for day to come.
