This is the key art we've created for marketing the show.
The full layered PSD zip file (very large) is resourced below.
I'd love to see animators and motion-graphics artist take this thing apart and bring it to life.
This is representative of a young person's idea of love - rather idealised and dreamy. I think we all thought that way about love at one time or another. :)
I've been very inspired by xobreexo23's amazing works of art. They lead me in the direction of the avant garde style where I used to find myself working. I decided to return there with this REmix. I can't speak to Bree's portion but for me there's no deep meaning; it's just weird and hopefully amusing. Feel free to read all sorts of shit into it and write a pretentious museum label for it.
As far as I can tell, Bree set up her entire scene on location so I did the same. Yes, that's a real prairie dog (no Photoshop trick) and no, they don't live in the woods or anywhere near me.
The biggest challenge was to make the two parts look like they are part of the same diptych. I did not do any color adjustments to Bree's piece. I had to make several layers of my photo to manipulate different areas so that the overall tonality would match. Given that they were shot in different locations with different lighting, it was a bit of an uphill battle and it's not perfect. It seems to work well enough, though. What do you think?
I orignally had the burning desire to make this a cinemagraph but (a) I was not sure what elements to have move and (b) it was already hard to make this and (c) I thought it might just be better as a big jpg than an animated gif. Maybe I'll still do another version.
Please go to Bree's RECord in the REsources and give it a <3 if you recommend this one--or even if you don't!
My one year anniversary on hitRECord was in September. It has taken me this long to put together my milestone tribute. I think it was worth it. My goal was to express gratitude for the site and the community and also explain why it means so much to me. Perhaps you will want to share this with friends and family who are not on hitRECord so they'll get a glimpse inside. A few notes:
Time -- This took me many hours to make, probably pushing triple digits, but I think it's particularly fascinating to factor in all of the time that the other artists invested into the RECords I REmixed. It must be thousands. How cool is that?
Gratitude -- I mentioned that I am very grateful for this site and for you all. I hope that I did not overlook any one at the mother ship in the homage sequence. My apologies if I did. I tried to get y'all in there! Also, a big shout out to tillycat for drawing my sidekick in this piece and spaceship for helping me find just the right music.
REsources -- There are 200+ RECords in the REsources. I tried to include REsources for REmixes but it's hard to dig so deep. Please let me know if I overlooked anyone. I know I missed a few. Also, the last 159 RECs are REmixed from my Christmas video and are tiny images flying through space. I can't guarantee that each one is visible but I did not want to leave anyone off the list. I'll be doing a REmix of that video soon, so you'll have another chance to see them.
Thank you for watching this short film. I hope you will enjoy it. I'm on Twitter @sethbang and I welcome you to subscribe to me here, too. You never know, I might do something else spiffy someday. Soon I will do one of those Q&A RECords that are so fun to read. I meant to do that today but I'm pooped.

Bree's new "Sunday" piece made me realize that ALL of Bree's stuff is a Re: Fantasy bumper waiting to happen:)
(MY personal fantasy is getting to stay IN bed all day but... :)
Coffee cups pattern bumper.
Couldn't resist experimenting on this film. This only a few shots - an opening title/space rocket shot & shots 42 - 45 that end the film back on the space ship. <3
