Hello! I've been thinking very carefully over the past few weeks about how I think production methodology and site communication could be improved.
One of my major areas of concern is that of curators. I want to start by saying that this isn't at all about them, but about the system, and how I think it can be improved.
I think curators would be better utilized in managing recurring or longstanding collaborations, like tori's 10 Minute Writing Challenge or MarieBee's Photography Challenge of a similar vein. Once, the idea of collaboration directors was discussed, and I think it's this idea I would like to see revisited and explored as a supplemental or even alternative way curators can contribute as opposed to featuring records and creating curated albums of favorite records. Many people have requested more direction, and I think that by appointing an appropriate director (or directors) for long standing collabs or important collabs, like the TV show ones, would be a great way to provide that direction and feedback. And depending on how it was handled, it could also feel a little more egalitarian. People with great ideas, like catamaranwestern, could help to direct their collaborations alongside a curator.
Edit to expand on this idea a bit from my own experience:
When I was running the RE-REC collab, it was understood that each week, I would create the collab, feature records on the reel and interact with the people who contributed. I took this really seriously. Since I've given up the collab, it has sort of sat on the shelf, not being featured weekly, not being updated, not being as taken care of, and I feel it's suffered as a result. Honestly, I feel kind of bad I stopped doing RE-RECs because I thought they'd be handed off to another committed RE-RECer.
I think having a director take care of these important collabs, updating them, interacting with contributors, being there to give feedback, would really help other collabs not suffer the same fate. Many of the TV show collabs were forgotten after the first week, the reels never updated, the late contributors not really knowing if anyone had seen their contributions. Obviously, some collabs would require more than one director.
I just felt I needed to clarify that. :)
Thanks for reading!

Just thought I'd contribute this song to the hitRECord library. Hopefully someone can make use of it. I always wanted to make a music video for this song, but just never got around to it. Now I'm too busy working on new RECs.
I can upload an instrumental version as well if there is any interest!
For a long time, I've wanted to illustrate this little thought I'd written down. The origin of it is that basically I'm a person who's always thinking ahead to the point of ignoring the now. I'm constantly having to remind myself that the person who I'm striving to be is in me right now. It's overwhelming trying to feel content and motivated, but when I think of this phrase it makes all the heavy thoughts a little lighter.
I found adriellism's Lady with floral headband a while back and I thought her expression and pose were ideal. Also I like the sketchbook quality she has. Mariebee's The Bar is a Beaufitul Place is the backdrop. Perfect ambiance.
Don't know if this would go with any of the current contributions, but I thought I would put it out there. (sourced one below that's a maybe -- from Anais 10). There's a little dark in every day =).
Might need headphones. Just sayin. Sorry about the noise, can't get rid of it.

Seeing RebeccaxRae's contribution to 'Scenes from a fictional film' inspired me to record some underwater screaming/drowning.
I guess I just figured that maybe someone could make use of it for something someday...
So I borrowed a hyrdophone from work, filled my tub with water and screamed my bloody lungs out :)
There are multiple takes here, both from the tub and the sink. The last one is my favourite, but have a play around with it and see what you can use it for!
This is how we propose to split up the profits for Act 2 of the RE: MONEY episode of HITRECORD ON TV.
Join in the discussion and give us your feedback by Thursday April 3rd, 2014.
NOTE: In these Proposals, whenever you see RegularJOE credited, it is because we are acknowledging his contribution to the piece. As we've always done, we have assigned a percentage and a value to this work and we welcome your feedback on that allocation. However, specific to this TV Production, RegularJOE's payment has been put back into the payout pool. His total allocation for this episode has been proportionally reallocated to all other contributors within this episode. That is why his payout values have been crossed out, and when you attempt to multiply any % share by the allocated value of the piece, the payout is a bit higher.
Here are some notes specific to the proposed profit distribution of certain records to help clarify how they are organized in these profit documents:
* A Fake History of 1987
The version of this RECord that aired on the TV show is different than the one that appears HERE in the Final Profits of RECollection, Vol. 1. Therefore the community can provide feedback on this new version over the next four weeks.
When I first made this mask I knew I wanted to dance to something funky with it on and then Malicore released this track the other day so I finished the mask and boom...

Film Script/Story Prompt... It was hot in his hotel room, the damn air had gone out and he had a
hangover from drinking in the hotel bar from the night before. The problem was he wasn't in his hotel
room and he couldn't find his clothes.
