So this is something Pasiv and I have been working on - I sent him a vocal track that needed some magic, he provided said magic times a million and here is the result!

(Will upload separate vocals too)

I've got a letter in my head for you I'm sick and tired of playing dead for you I've gotta come back, I've gotta come back to life Turn the clocks back, turn the clocks back, I'm alright My lips are frozen and my hands are numb The cracks are showing but I'm playing dumb I've got jump off, I've gotta let go this lie Let the truth out, let the truth out or let it die

wirrow first Released this song back in the springtime.  The first thing I did after the first time I heard it was email dan, saying "I found your new favorite song."  He and I share a love for the pleasantly repetitive.

Other musicians added to it, PixelPilgrim and ChenelyWelly added to wirrow's vocals from the female persuasion.  Nels Cline played hot guitar.  Jeff Peff added percussion and edited the whole thing together into its current form.

The hypno-face template is one of the cooler aesthetic feats our mass collaborative process has achieved so far: wirrow drawing the first face, then hundreds of hitRECorders coloring it into diversity.

And the work of a whole lot of video artists went into this montage I've cut.  Too many to name in this description, but I'll cite the resources below.  (I've listed some so far, but I'll have to dig around to find the rest)  The footage of dan spinning comes from Vanya, who is well intent on uploading the resource, I know because he's standing right next to me.

The second version in the saga of the "They Can't Turn the Lights Off" REmix...

So... what's different in V2 you ask? Lots.

In addition to some new cuts throughout the first two acts, the two choruses at the end are packed full of historical icons of change. Rather than wrap up the RECord with just the animation (like in V1) there is lots of back-and-forth between the animation and Public Domain footage.

My personal favorite addition is the overlay of the Sundance singalong footage over the end titles. Such a great series of moments from earlier in the year.

Well... the end is drawing near on this REmix so please chime in on with REmarks for your feelings on this. Your input will help craft the final version!

Thanks again to everyone contributing to the two collabs on this. An extra thanks is in order for gweninterrupted for all of her devotion to this project. She's located a ton of great Public Domain footage and has been so helpful in organizing all of the RECords categorically and drawing attention to certain footage.

Had an idea when I saw the 11 Burns video and Joe's comment on it. It's the creative process. HitRECord makes us truly human.
Still rough, but I hope it is enough to inspire.
Big fangirl-thanks to Matt Conley. Matt, a lot of your videos inspire me to create stuff, and alot of this video is down to your videos. So, thanks!

So many hugs to HitRECorders on this, my first 11/11 :-)

PS: I will REC all the other footage tomorrow. Sorry!

I took the video from "Dan danse avec le soleil" and re-edited Dan's performance to the "Ain't Nothin" beat by phonontek.

I wanted to give the performance a bit more of a jazz feel, and phonontek's beat is an awesome piece of music to work with.
