CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
==
12:42, our Resident Video Curator, has some words RE: The hitRECord Academy collaboration and the types of community-driven records we can make for the collab.
Here is the link to the collaboration: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/177105
==
Here's how you can contribute to the "hitRECord Academy" collaboration:
ALL ARTISTS: You could contribute to this collaboration in a lot of different ways. Perhaps by creating traditional tutorials around techniques and software, or you could lend some insight into your artistic process (writing, composing, editing, drawing) as well as explore your inspirations in a creative way.
Community-oriented records pertaining to hitRECord and its functionality could be interesting additions to this collab. These may include: How & why do you recommend records? How do you upload your art to the site? How do collaborations work?
Contributions aren't limited to video; it would be great if all mediums were included! For instance, you could sing about how you upload a record, or you could illustrate the hitRECord process. Be as creative as you'd like!

Thanks!
FCP by Dr. Gory
When first watching the footage Cam released, I didn't really know what he was getting at. It was too much footage for me to want to touch. After his cut came out of Departures, which was dope, I got what he was trying to do. With that, I did a recut working from his Raw .mp4 footage because as dope as it was, there were parts that I just wanted to tweak, on 2nd and 3rd watching.
I tried to make all the stuff I thought should be quicker, quicker and all the stuff I thought should be more drawn out, I drew out.
Only so much I can do working from .mp4, but this project is so wide open using this footage, that I know it will change a lot. Cameron really put together something that a lot of people could make something for. I think my original dissatisfaction with departures previous, is that the grainy audio recording of the original didn't really speak to me, and I was hoping that down the line that would be re-recorded and make put to other music or I dunno?? Would be awesome if Serpent Charmer re read the text with no audio backing or anyone else. I know ManwithaHat has a really awesome noir voice, because he did my "anglerpod waits" video in '10. Don't know if he is still around though. Anyway, Cam eliminated that problem by the new score which is really fun.
I wanted to see what I could do with it, not totally happy, but not bummed at all.

A video and poem I wrote to talk about my perception of being a Latino in college.
Honestly, being a minority in a priveledged upper white college is a completely different experience that most people simply don't understand. And I only touched the surface of my issues with it all in the poem/video.
