"Moonlight breaks on the grasslands of Africa and dots the plain with a thousand points of light like lamps on a busy street. The browns and greens are all soot grey, smudged by the oily midnight sky. A cool breeze curls around a herd of sleeping zebras and whistles through each blade of grass sending rippling waves of darkened tan across the ground. The smell of dirt and heat sits stale in the air. The chirping of crickets fills the plain with an electric hum as a single hyena matted and wiry from the day's hunger trots to a small oasis and laps up the glassy water. A bellow from a distant elephant echos through the scattered trees whose branches sway and bend in the wind. In one tree a leopard lays, swinging its tail through the leaves as it watches a gazelle hop and bound and duck down to munch on the dry grass. Clouds drift over the face of the moon blotting out the gazelle and the leopard, the elephant and the hyena and the tiny oasis whose glassy waters he drank, and the sea of grass."
..back in college... :-) We had to zoom in into a drawing of ours and draw each step by hand. Feel free to use it. Scans turned out a little blurry - sorry about that.
The idea behind the original illustration was "if there's an ocean inside a shell, what else is there?" So, I decided to open it up. Maybe someone has some ideas of what may be going on inside...
