The crowd must've been bustling at the Boston Marathon. Runners strove, step by step, on pace toward that coveted finish line. It's more than high school cross country. This was grown up runners stuff. They have trained for a long time for this. It was their lives. Little did they realize that their livelihood was also in danger for their lives themselves. The supporters of the runners--friends, family...they may not have been the participants of the race. Perhaps they were runners, but missed out on registration. Perhaps they were runners who weren't fast enough to qualify. Perhaps, well, whether they were runners or not, they were there for support. At the finish line, they cheered, waiting for their heroes to finish. They didn't deserve what happened on that Monday, April 15. An explosion occurred, to say the least. And this wasn't a metaphorical explosion, or some kind of hyperbole describing the crowd. It was an actual explosion. Boom. Followed by another explosion. Boom again. They were bombs. People immediately paniced. The ones who weren't there to run certainly did some running. Those who were already running, were running toward the finish line, compelled to finish their race. Some fell from the blast, and were resilient enough to get back up and keep running...running to finish. NPR's Peter Sagal was mere 100 feet from the finish line when the two explosions occurred. He spoke to NPR's reporters, describing the event. His voice is known best as the voice of NPR's "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me," the NPR news quiz. I wonder how this piece of news will be presented on the next show. Who's Carl This Time? Would they use a clip of Peter Sagal's own testimony? It was an interesting testimony. Peter Sagal's voice sounded different, somewhat somber. Normal. Hearing him describe the explosions at the Boston Marathon made me realize that his voice on NPR's "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" was his radio voice, and he actually had a regular person's voice outside of that. |

What does it mean when someone accuses somebody of being fake? What is fake? It’s the opposite of genuine. When I see a Louis Vuitton purse, I wonder if it’s fake o... |

Intro to go with totallyjamie's animation.
Independence means being able to watch an arthouse film by yourself when none of your friends want to. No need to have parents buy you a ticket (especially when it's R-rated). No need to compromise with a significant other. No government censorship (as far as I know). That's my stance on Independence.
Watching a movie by yourself doesn't make you a loser. It makes you independent. :p
