CALLING ALL CINEMATOGRAPHERS / PHOTOGRAPHERS / VIDEO EDITORS!

We're gonna make a Short Film based on the track "Good Nights" by TheTenant & theboxsets, so let's shoot some footage and cut it together.

One of the main visual motifs is going to be Traffic Lights and Road Footage. There are many different ways to create a narrative for this song out of these kinds of visuals, so let's see where it goes!

You can contribute your records to the collaboration here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/1004403

Here's how YOU can contribute to this collaboration:

CINEMATOGRAPHERS & PHOTOGRAPHERS: Grab your cameras! Let's get more footage of The Road and - more specifically - let's get a ton of shots of Traffic Lights. Film or take photos of the different colors, the sequences of lights, and shoot from as many different angles as possible.

VIDEO EDITORS: Use the footage already on hitRECord of The Road and start cutting it to the beat of the song "Good Nights."

CURATORS: Compiling Albums of visuals of The Road will be super helpful to Video Editors who are working on cutting video.

Thanks!

I made this flash animation using images of Seattle found here for the RE:Cities collaboration.

I taught myself how to do this today (thanks to some jiggery pokery with photoshop, illustrator, and flash) so it's still rough because I'm not very good with making videos yet, but if someone wants to remix this to make it nicer that would be excellent. Especially the music track because it kind of ends on a strange note. And the transitions are a bit weird.

One day before breakfast, an orange rolled off the counter and escaped its fate, bouncing happily through the kitchen door.

Filled with hope, the egg followed.

There is a serious problem pertaining to the generation gap in our society. This video seeks to present one of the common issues that has arisen with the generation gap, in 30 SEConds or less.

Here's my 2 cents worth towards the 'The Man in the Herringbone Hat' collaboration. Started by animating the 'herringbone card' designed by steve rolston and then that kind of evolved into this opening title sequence. Hope you like.

Thanks to everyone for the resources, especially megan carnes for the track 'Sunday evening'.

Also thanks to Matt Conley for the link to www.archive.org (I never even knew it existed!), have used these public domain clips:

http://www.archive.org/details/CEP189
http://www.archive.org/details/The_Living_Playing_Cards

So what next....
I liked the idea I read the other day by Wirrow about the possiblity of this film being done in style simliar to Richard Linklaters 'A scanner darkly' - whereby someone films this story as best as possible (even if it's just with appropriate actors?) and then the footage is rotoscoped by us all, & the set & bkgrounds created by animation - hard work I know, but could look great!

The opening archive footage from these titles could be used a demo for this process if someone wants to give it go??!

The genre of glitch is completely based on sampling, cutting, chopping...the deconstruction of one artform and the reconstruction of the pieces into something new. I ripped the audio from RegularJOE's videos and sampled it into a track I made. I reconstructed his words to describe a lot of feelings I have regarding sampling and remixing in general. I was suprised how easily his words could tell my story.

This is a REmix of an oldie, "The Dead" by JaJa_Juice; a bonafide classic Text RECord in my opinion.

natesname's got some really cool zombie footage on the site, and it's even better that he's uploaded a bunch of raw footage as well. And theboxsets has created a really cool beat that I REmixed and integrated into the reading by Joe to add some more layers of sound.

The horror... The horror...
