She was a face full of flowers Hydrangea petals blooming through terrible winters Proof of some grand benevolence
She was a mouthful of moss Soft and warm as new earth, Connected to everything and tethered to nothing
And she was delicate as tender shoots Breaking through old bark But, the gusts that blew her never broke her Only rustled her resilient leaves
‘Sssh’, they said to the brazen wind Be still a while
‘Sssh’, they said to me Be patient |

I started writing this outside of a starbucks downtown and finished it today 3/2/11
It's truly one of my favorites that I've done, because the past few days have been tough for me, and this song is everything I've been feeling.
loved dianasev's metaphor, had to put it to song. really soft, really slow.
(also just made a fb artist page which can be found in my profile here. i'm not big on social networks, but i realized it'd make it slightly easier for me to connect with some of you. stop by if you can! i'll be fleshing it out soon so it's not so bare)
oh, lover mine
my lids are getting heavy
oh, lover mine
i'm fickle and unsteady
but i've settled on a phrase
and i'll tell it to you straight
you are to me like old leather
oh, lover mine
i've loved and i have broken
oh, lover mine
i've not meant what i've spoken
but i'm feeling honest now
you are to me like old leather
