I took this for a college course I was taking and my teacher's only complaint was that it is centered but I still love it anyway.

Hello from British Columbia!

SXSW is next week and we've got some work ahead of us. (Once again, our friends at G-Tech will be sponsoring us at SXSW, so if your work is screened at the festival, you'll participate in those profits.) We're starting to hit you with some REquests - MMM 2 score, bumper videos, backdrop videos, invitation - keep your eyes directed to the REMARKS Drawer for those. If you'll be in Austin, please come to our events on the 16th and 20th - they're going to be awesome!

Here's a rundown of the events we'll be presenting at SXSW:

March 16th - 10p // G-Tech Theater @ The Austin Convention Center
"An evening with hitRECord.org"
A program of short form media created by Joseph Gordon-Levitt's open collaborative production company. Hosted collectively by the hitRECord.org community and featuring live music by hitRECorders Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl of The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

March 20 - 9p // G-Tech Theater @ The Austin Convention Center
"Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the hitRECord.org Spring Spectacular"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt curates and hosts an evening of short films, live entertainment and collaborative RECording. Featuring a performance by hitRECorders Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl of The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

March 20 - Midnight // Alamo Drafthouse RITZ location
Short films, beer, movie set, vaudeville, musica, RECordling, collaboration, live

The Sundance profit distribution conversations are going to be closed on 3/14, so there's still time to get your voice heard - we want to hear from you! Then its time to send on those checks.

Text_notecard_shadow_top_left The city is at war. I can see
the ripples from these offices. I stand,

a silhouette against the checkerboard
of windows, squares of pavement slabs to cast

my shadow onto. Out, below, the bombs
go off; the crowds of people beat their heads

against a black and blue and day-glo wall.
Before, the discontented smoked and dreamt

and sucked each others’ air. Above, I bend
my back, become a bridge from one frontier,

across a river wide as no-man’s-land,
as cold as barricades and riot shields.

The crowds climb onto roofs, and shout, and surge
to try to swallow enemies. I hide,

the central panel of a triptych, at
the middle window, still, observing like

a journalist. There are two cities here,
like feuding lovers trapped in the same room.

Perhaps the liars’ tongues will fatten now
that unkept promises glow luminous.

The citizens, the streets, torn up like seams.
The city is at war with itself.

Rian Johnson recently wrote and directed THE BROTHERS BLOOM; his first one was BRICK. And now, he makes his first foray into hitRECord collaboration with a poem he has written entitled The Man in the Herringbone Hat.

He's thinking maybe we do it first as sort of an audio-play like the old radio days. Who wants to do a reading of it? I will soon. But we'd really like a variety of voices. Especially an old man's voice. Anybody got a grandpa with a flair for a turn of phrase?
