I made this short video after watching (reading?) a very interesting conversation take place on Skype between some very passionate members. hitRECord is full of talented, creative, and intelligent women and I think it's about time someone made a RECord about the power of them.

I hope you like this. Enjoy.

Here's something I came-up with after discovering a bunch of drawings that my brother used to make for me when he was about 7 years old (the background image is one of his drawings). I was inspired by the crayon/messy-ness of his doodles and made this layout. It's kind of childish, but I figured - since we're doing these things from the perspective of children - it might suit the theme.

I couldn't think of a way to classify hitRECorders like they do in high school yearbooks (seniors, juniors, etc). Maybe by the year they joined? Like "RECordering since 2008". I don't know. It's just a thought.

I've only been a member of this community for a few days, but I'm already in love with hitRECord.

This is my first attempt at video editing, so it's pretty rough. I apologize for the pixelations; they only showed-up after I uploaded the video (it's not like that on the original cut). Also, I tried to cite as many resources as I could. If I missed anyone, please let me know :)

This is very VERY unfinished. I watched the silent film version of 'Alice In Wonderland' and picked-out the my favorite scenes and cut it into a short 2-minute-ish film. Then I added the music. I really wanted to incorporate the beautiful images everyone contributed to this collab, but I'm not all that great with moving those images to the green screen and then animating them so they're kind of... still. Haha. I tried to put images of the cheshire cat onto the scenes with the cat; images of the caterpillar over scenes with the caterpillar; etc.

I know what I want out of this collaboration, but my video editing skills aren't good enough to portray what I have in my head. Does that make sense? I might get some friends together to act this out when we all have some free time.

Anyway, I wanted to get this out to maybe give this collaboration a push. Hopefully, someone can take some ideas from this and make something better. I'll keep working on it as ideas come to me.

PS: I couldn't resource one of the images I used, so I'll do it here: "Alice" by RicardoJuni (http://www.hitrecord.org/records/46257)

As per RichieMillenium's request (and due to the fact that the other video got cut-off at the end), I've uploaded a version of this video without music :D

I spent the afternoon driving around Houston with my cousin and brother taking videos of my favorite spots for this collaboration.

I'm the typical Military kid who got to move all over the place following her dad to wherever he was sent. I've lived in California, Florida, Virginia, Italy, Sicily, and Texas. I've also been to Germany, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Holland, and Sardinia. So I think it's safe to say that I've been to several cities in my 22 years. Anyway, we settled down long enough in Texas to allow me to graduate from high school. After graduation, I went to the Philippines for vacation and just never left. Within a week of arriving, I had enrolled at a local college and stayed for 4 years to earn a degree in Nursing. I graduated in April 2010 and moved back to Texas in May. The track in the background is of me talking about how it was like to live in the Philippines.

I think I get repetitive, but I wanted to include as much audio as possible to give others more material with which to work. I thought it'd be interesting to show the beauty of Houston (where I've lived for over 6 years) while I talked about a different way of life in another country to show the contrast in cultures.

I'll upload the more "upbeat" version of this video with music in a little bit. I just wanted to get this out in time for SITC :)

It's kind of long, but I hope this footage is useful to someone out there :)

PS: I'd like to thank my awesome cousin, Daryl, for driving me around Houston for the day; my cousin, irenmonkey, for lending us her car; and to my brother for coming along and making sure I wasn't lost.

Lola
One of the only pictures that I have with my late grandmother. She had one of the prettiest names: Iluminada, which is derived from the Spanish word 'enlightened'. I like how the light hit us at just the right angle. Cool, huh? :)
