1. Who are you and what do you do? I’m Kate, and I cry a lot during films. 2. What's the origin of your artist name? ‘Katey Doodles’ has been my family nickname since I was a child. It feels nice to keep a bit of that with me. 3. What has been your biggest challenge with your art so far? Believing in it. 4. Who or what is your biggest influence? Ma famille, sans doute. 5. What is your wildest story? The last year of my life – one big wild story. 6. What is the last book you read? The Outsiders; my all-time favourite. 7. If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be? Maude Chardin. 8. What couldn't you live without? Green apples. Seriously, I’m addicted. 9. What is your secret talent? Hand cooing. 10. Tell me about the last dream you remember having. I was on holiday with my friend’s family, who are all very strait-laced. I wanted to go out and explore, but they insisted we stayed in the house (which was actually my real life house). So, while they were sleeping I arranged to get lessons in fire-spinning from a man who looked like Alan Rickman, but who I knew to be Kanye West, so that I could at least have some excitement. Bizarre. 11. What are you craving right now? Love, love, love…It’s all you need. 12. Can you hula hoop? Yes. 13. What was the last song you fell in love with? ‘Maple Leaves’ by Jens Lekman. 14. What do you like? Those moments when you catch a tiny inkling of a smell that sends you back to a really vivid memory. 15. What do you dislike? Phonies and fakes. How very Holden Caulfield. 16. What's the best piece of advice you've been given? “do what makes you happy, and it will all fall into place.” 17. How and why did you start RECording? I’ve been drawing, writing and painting as long as I can remember; so it’s always been ‘a part of me’ (I know, how cheesy. “Hi, my name’s Kate…Welcome to cliché central!”). However, about two years ago I stopped. Up until recently, I felt totally drained of all creativity; like there was no way I could get it back. Then, after stumbling across HitRECord, I felt this sudden surge of energy that encouraged me to get artsy again. I picked up a pencil that night, and got going – and since then I haven’t been able to stop. So thank you for that, guys. Your creativity is both inspired and inspiring. <3
