Fucking vinegar, man. You don’t even know. It’s like an alibi, a designated driver, a wingman, and a fabric softener all in one. Vinegar will fucking clean anything. I once threw Pappap’s chili against the wall, just to see if it could handle that shit. Fucking of course it could. It’s fucking vinegar! I can’t even watch those crime shows on TV anymore—I’m always thinking, “Dude wouldn’t have gotten caught if he hosed down the tub with vinegar.” My brother Craig? He says Jesus already came back, but he came back as vinegar—how else can you explain all of the miracles that come out of that fucking bottle? I don’t know about that, but I did thank God when it got the puke stain out of the carpet before Mom came home. This one time, I was at a party. Everyone starting lighting up and Alyssa was all, “You guys! My parents are totally going to smell that later!” I just strolled up to her and was like, “One part vinegar, one part lemon juice, 100% freshness.” Vinegar will get you laid. Vinegar saved my life once. I was walking home from work when this group of guys come out of fucking nowhere and start hassling me—“Aren’t you Craig’s brother? He owes us money!” Shit was getting real. Then, bam! Apple Cider Vinegar rolls up and tells them to back the fuck off, they were on his turf. And you know what? They did. I’m telling you, vinegar can do fucking anything. |

fallingalice contributed her text record, Vinegar (A Monologue), to the RE: MY FAVORITE THINGS collab. And obviously, I liked it. I still can't predict it, but sometimes certain pieces of writing just make me want to read them aloud. Well done alice!
I'll be curious to see how this might get used to make a little short film or something...
grooving to Robo_J's music. Lyrics might make a good base for someone to create from. (I can sorta hear a man read Metaphorest's Sorrow Bird over this.)
Songs of sorrow
Sang by sodden souls
Echo around these hollow halls
And make all warmth grow cold
**UPDATE*** IF YOU HEART THIS PLEASE GO HEART CHRISTOPHER.HARNS BEAT TOO. PRETTY PLEASE? : )
It was too fun not to remix :)) I may have gotten a little lyric crazy
Let the beat shake, rattle up the walls
Make the pitter patter faster
Keep my love muscle strong
Don’t waste this pace
On a sad song
Pump that red matter
Nothing makes me happier
Than my pulse rate
Maxing out at 10
Times the legal limit
Head rushing
Make the room spin
You’re my new friend
If you let the flutters in
Let’s start the race
Make the heart attack begin
I was sippin on a mai tai
When I saw this guy
Smooth Don Juan
Sans a senorita on his side
“Hey what’s your name?
Can I get your number?”
Things I wouldn’t say if
I was three drinks sober
But he smiled and he winked
As he sipped
Said he’d order drinks
Asked me what he should get
I’m really really feeling
Muy caliente
I’ll take tequila on the rocks
Then I’ll replay
Set it up, set it up, set it up
Keep my heartbeat
Bump bump bumping
Keep my heartflow
Pump pump pumping
Keep the hydro
Pump pump pumpin
Keep the hot beat
Bump bump bumpin
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm always excited to see RECords for Emcees.
This was a fun song to write for. Especially if you compare it to the rest of the music I've RECorded, but I'll let you be the judge of that.
ashes2ashes has a very sultry sound to her voice which was a challange to stand out against!
It was also important that I kept the lyrics in tune with what was already on the page, so I listened to the song a few times and picked out the bits that I really wanted to accentuate. I completely wanted to find a way to counter ashes2ashes's line "make my love muscle strong". I just couldn't imagine a line that wouldn't make me laugh everytime I heard it. So I thought... yeah, better leave that one alone.
There are also tons of "vocal stabs" to use in production. I can imagine some cutting, pasting; possibly compressing, or the adding of effects would make them sound cooler.
The image I used as the cover art is called "She's Really Enjoying That Drink", by L.d.n.. Firstly, because "Carnival Tequila" is about a woman getting tipsy and losing her inhabitions. Secondly, because most people will look at THAT picture before a picture of me ;)
All in all, Tons of fun! Enjoy!
I've always wanted to write a song that was a story within itself. As hip hop music tends to be dominated by violent lyrics, and myself being a mostly peaceful man, I could not write this story from experience. So I made up a character called Sandpaper James.
I actually intended and had plot out an entire album dedicated to this character. Unfortunately I never got around to writing the entire plot line and left it at this song.
What I like most about this particular song is the build up. It also has lots of cool sound effects to support what is happening in the story.
