iBrews's Collaborations

...or maybe 'HitRECorders for Hire' This is kind of a corollary to MattConley's 'Video REquest Collaboration' http://www.hitrecord.org/records/222870, as I thought it would be good to have a place where hitRECorders can lay out their talents/interests to the community at large, and maybe link to a few of their featured works. Kind of like a laid back resume/portfolio. That way, when someone like Matt needs an actress, or Metaphorest needs an animator, or a tiny story needs a voice over, you can come here to find someone you think would make a great contribution. Then you simply write in the conversation something like 'hey todd68976 , you play mad good ukulele. Would you mind laying a solo down over my oboe track?' My hope is that this becomes a way of allowing RECorders to become specifically aware of projects they'd be interested in but may never discover on their own. ...and it's always nice to be asked for help directly :) |

The Ditty Box is a home for all your little ditties, be them hummed, sung, plucked or drummed. Grimed or refined, analog or digital ditty-- all are welcome! You plant a ditty in the Ditty Box, then a happy hitRECorder comes along and grows your ditty into a full song, or spreads it across a soundtrack, or samples it into a phat remix. Then you are happy too |

The way this game works is as follows: I plant 'seeds' for a story. They include: -the opening scene -the opening characters -5 elements that begin to guide the story. WHERE IT GOES FROM THERE IS UP TO YOU! This is an ongoing writing game I used to play with my friends and it's always jolly good fun. After only a few days as part of the hitrecord.org community, I already feel completely awed by the talent and supportiveness of so many of you, and can't wait to see what you do with this! Right now it is 12:00 AM EST on Wednesday August 4th, 2010. In one week's time, at precisely 12:00 AM EST on Wednesday August 11th, I will set the 'seeds' for the next chapter, based on the story which has received the most recommendations. Like a relay, the story will be passed off and continued from there. This cycle will continue for five chapters until we have one complete story, the cream of the crop, risen to the top! And at that point, I'll have an extra special surprise in store... That's it. Let's see what you can do! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 01: August 04, 2010 - August 11, 2010 Opening scene: a boathouse near the jungle Opening characters: - Willhem, a salesman - Dolfhankton, a photographer - Kaylee, a bodybuilder Necessary Seeds: 1) the color of mauve is pivotal 2) a kazoo almost leads to death 3) someone has a leg spasm 4) tinfoil saves the day 5) "why that's impossible!" must be spoken Silly? Perhaps. Potential? Oodles. Interpret it all as you like, and just remember: be creative and have fun! If you support this idea, please oh please oh please recommend it, participate (even if its just a tiny story...), and get your friends to participate as well! A bajillion sincere thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/11 UPDATE!! After receiving the most recommendations, ienichol's 'Chapter 1 - Revenge in the Arancaho' is now officially canon. Congratulations! Now let's continue his epic tale, right after Dolfhankton's daring escape from Wilhelm... Chapter 02: August 11, 2010 - August 18, 2010 Opening scene: bachelor pad Opening characters: Wilhelm Fiddlewinks, his ferret Necessary Seeds: 1) alarm 2) pile of bones 3) rich tapioca smell 4) fan 5) the line, "Ptheh...too salty!" interpret as you will and...GO! PS-- a lot of excellent storytelling came out of chapter 1, so by all means feel free to continue other people's stories as well! ienichol simply has the first 'official' one for the purposes of this collab. --------------------- 8/18 UPDATE!! - rather than posting chapter 3 parameters now, I'm waiting for one chapter 2 story to get at least 5 recommends. In other words, there's still time to submit!! (and come on people, recommend these!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9/30 UPDATE!!- congratulations to todd68976 on his Chapter 2 victory! It was indeed a hard-fought, grueling battle. Now, much time later, we move on to Chapter 3. We pick up the story where Todd left off, Wilhelm exploring the many lucrative opportunities presented by tapioca... Chapter 03: September 30, 2010 - October 7, 2010* Opening scene: factory Opening characters: Darziel, a designer Festubool, a psychologist Necessary Seeds: 1) eight-story drop 2) track 3) awkward crying 4) 1940's film 5) the phrase, "my mother's bedroom." interpret as you will and...GO! *As before, the winner will be the first chapter to reach 5 hearts, or the one with the most hearts after one week, whichever comes last. Enjoy! |

I'm not quite sure yet what I'm going for here, and would love some help! I've put together some videos and voice overs of a few of my digital creations that weren't particularly planned, but I think start to work toward what could be a very fun--and potentially informative--ongoing segment. Coming from an architectural education, I've always found it remarkable how we are taught virtually nothing about buildings growing up. Not on TV, not in school...pretty much nowhere except within the profession. I would like to begin to remedy this...and my initial reaction is very short, voiced over videos of buildings being constructed in a digital environment. Right now I'm thinking of some kind of 'information overload' motif that packs as much information as possible on a building into 60 seconds, but is hopefully compelling and bizarre enough to entice people to go back, watch again a few times, and then maybe find out more about the building on their own. Architecture is FASCINATING, yet so many people find it either too 'above' what they have the capacity to comprehend, or too boring to be worth their notice. Please help me change that! All ideas appreciated! |

Hello friends! Girls are complicated. Help me put together a music video with this concept: furious cogitation over why humans can't be simpler and more convenient...like office supplies. Right now I have a half-developed, simply recorded song. Let's: develop the song! record it with someone who can sing/play much better than me! create a video to go with it all! I feel like each line could be accompanied by some wacky artwork/animation that plays with the story of the back and forth of a couple on the rocks and office supply imagery... ...or something. hmm? |

I always thought this would be a fun commercial idea, and would love some help putting it together. Essentially, it's a high-energy, intensive advertisement for the latest and greatest workout device, which happens to very much resemble an ordinary office chair (though never acknowledges said similarity). I have a script, though welcome changes, additions, subtractions, other takes on the idea. I would love to see it: filmed/animated, music added, advertisements as they might appear in print form Thanks for the help, and I'm looking forward to being a part of this incredible community!! |
