Well, if you hear me using radio waves
To call your name
It shouldn't take a map
To realize it's a trap
Yeah, I've dug you a grave
So keep our distance awake
It's all your fault again
But I'll take all these pins
Straight to heart
Like arrows shot in the dark
And whether or not you take the river out to the sea
Shivering from cold forever you'll be
'Cause you left your heart in the bark of a Sycamore tree
Still, I dream you'll awake to a red light flashing
As I fall asleep to a blue wave crashing
Crashing against greener pastures in my bones
And at the start of the day when the sun is rising
All you will see is a black horizon
And it will remind you of dead flies in a row
When I get to Mexico
I'm gonna pawn my heart and sell my soul
If I ever get to Mexico
Haven't you heard of a heart?
Haven't you heard of a sunrise?
Colander Eyes, I hope your calendar glows in the dark
Felt like hitting record one more time and doing a slightly different version. It starts off slow and gets faster. So. That's the difference.
Here's the poem by tori, plus the last verse that I added. ..Plus the chords. ..Capo on 3rd:
Am
When she died, they took her things:
F
necklace, watch & silver rings.
C
They slid them off with expertise,
E
then took her wallet, phone & keys.
Am
They put them in a plastic tray,
F
with her book & body spray,
C
a pen, a comb, her fake ID,
E
a pin badge labelled "shop trainee".
Am
They wiped down all the bloody splatters,
F
then folded up her shattered glasses.
C
They tucked them in a scrumpled note,
E
complete with David Bowie quote.
Am
They found a lighter in her jeans,
F
lipstick, pot and jelly beans.
C
Last they found the dog-eared letter,
E
"My death will make your lives much better."
Am F C E Am
"So, what have we learned?"
Am F C E
The detective asked as his stomach turned
Am F
"Her diary is full of hearts,
C E
And her drawings all are works of art
Am F C E Am
As far as I'm concerned"
Just read tori's poem "Her Pockets" and decided to turn it into a quick little song. Capo on 3rd. I added the last verse just to wrap the song up.

NO MAN'S LAND
Whether you're a brakeman, a conductor, or an engineer
There is no way to derail fate when your end is near
And, like your footprints and some good friends, you'll disappear
Into the ether
Into cold white sand
Into the ether
Into No Man's Land
Into the vacuum pull
Of a big black hole
Displacing the sky
Into the ether
When you die
Whether you're a train on track
In a balancing act
Or a ship lost out at sea
When you're wrecked and gone
All the colors of dawn
Will drain out through your teeth
And to never again
Touch bone or skin
They'll ride November's breeze
Into the ether
In a cloud of dust
Into the ether
In a shroud of rust
Into the vacuum pull
Of a big black hole
That erases your eyes
Into the ether
When you die
There is no time left
To debate what's next
Just grab a spot in line
'Cause dark or pure
You just wanna make sure
You don't get left behind
Ya know, both salvation
And damnation
Sound like western lies
But if court is held
Over Heaven or Hell
Then I guess I'll testify
