At night, on the 110 in LA, when the highway's opened up and everyone's clocking in at 70mph, I let the electronic music ride loud out of my car stereo. It makes the lights of all the cars and street lamps in my rearview mirror dance into little hypnotic circles and soundwaves, beating along to the bass as it makes my whole world vibrate and dance. I know it's too hypnotic to be safe, but it's so damn pretty to just watch the sound dancing out behind you onto the open road.

It all keeps perfect time.

hitRECord creative space, first pass. I think I may want to take out some layers or adjust a bit, but the idea is there.

I used the same technique to make this that I did to create my cut out stars record.

I think there may be potential for an animation here, something with a big bang vibe, maybe. :)

I'll put up the others in a zip along with the master PSD if anyone's interested. probably tomorrow. I don't bother to just post them up right now because they are pretty much the two posted versions but with the "on" added or removed accordingly.

"A tagline and banner/bilboard design idea to go with it. The idea of "Record Watch Repeat" is that it it's a triple pun, playing on a) our company logic and brand, b) advertising language (wash, rinse, repeat), and c) tv terms (record a show, watch a show, a repeat). Couple of variants coming up!"

I really loved this moment in Joe's request video, so I wanted to snip it out and make it it's own standalone video. I think it speaks volumes on the nature of secrets and truth.

inspired by marke's logos, though I couldn't get the exact font he used for "tv" so I simulated it by nudging another.

Let's face it, audio is the only way to do this. May edit it upand stick some video and a bit of sound effects behind it later. I intentionally used a lower than perfect quality of compression, for nice scratchy audio feel and reliable uploading ;). Below is a copy of the plan text that I'm about to post:

"Another Tiny Stories idea?! OF COURSE!!! What I Imagine the tiny tape to be is the audio book/radio show version of the tiny book of tiny stories, which would create and illustrate Tiny Stories entirely using audio aural landscapes. It basically falls somewhere in between the Tiny Tune (although music in tiny tape stories would be incidental only) and Tiny Films, except no visuals.

Think NPR, think RadioLAB, think ThisAmericanLife. This would be our version. In fact, the closest thing I'm aware of is an old and excellent episode of this american life called "20 acts in 60 minutes", but this is Tiny Stories we're talking about, so let's up the ante– how does 120 Acts in 60 Minutes sound?

Some parameters I think might help:

-Don't use intelligible dialogue or read text beyond the tiny story text. Walla/Chatter track is okay, though, when appropriate.

-That said, give yourself a little time to build the sound world, I'd say 30 seconds is a good target, maybe up to 45 and down to 15, but I think that's the range.

-If we're ever going to make this an album for release, I think an interstitial narration for at least the titles of the stories, if possible all done by the same reader, maybe calling each an act or a chapter. I think it'd add both continuity and comedy to the format.

What we'll need:

CURATORS:

TINY STORY ALBUMS: Find Tiny Stories particularly suited for sound and/or reading of Tiny Stories already made that are very rich and dramatic.

SOUND ALBUMS: Find and organize audio sound effect libraries. think of things like ambience, foley, footsteps, spaces, fighting, anything, really.

ACTORS and VOCALIST: Readings and incidential vocal sounds (screams, breathing, other orally fabricated Sound FX).

MUSICIANS and SOUND DESIGNERS: SOUNDS! Three major categories:

-MUSIC

-AMBIENCE

-Sound Effects and Foley (DESIGNED SOUND FX)

Get us what we need! It's all about the sound.

EDITORS:

MIXING: Edited sound and mixing for various tiny stories

REMIXED TINY AUDIO STORIES: Original tiny stories created from other hitRECord audio."

PS: to anyone curious, that episode of this american life can be found on their website for free. can't rememebr if u'm allowed to post a link like that here, i think i can, but not sure... anyone know that 100%?

New idea: We should make an audiobook/radio show tiny stories collection. Writing a collab up for it now, recorded a short message. Coming up. Digital drawing based on wirrow's icon done on my ipad in Procreate.
