Here is my AIGA | Get Out the Vote poster for the upcoming election. A lot of younger people shy away from voting, or are simply unaware of the politics going on around them in general so they just don't bother voting. I myself am guilty of this at times.
I took the AIGA challange and made a voting poster geared toward grabbing the attention of people my age. Something bright, humorous, and involving a popular theme we can relate to. They closed the poster uploading down on AIGA last month...but I believe there is more work to be done!
Create your versions of current eye-catching voting posters, and we too can put together a database for anyone to log into and download PDFs to put up all over the country.
*Better yet, find a cause that hits home with you and create a poster that might inform the public about said cause, influence them to look deeper into the issue, and inspire people to come together and do something about it!
**EVEN better yet, if we get enough people & posters created in different areas, we can do a mass printing and find a day where groups of people join together to disperse the posters all over the place. Like posting them next to playbills that line NYC walls, or by asking shops in small towns to feature them as customers walk in. (Legal places)
It would be a great way to get artwork out on the streets, and support the matters that mean most to us. **Just Remember** These posters are not meant to offend, or support specific people or parties, or to be derogatory in any fashion. They are meant to help the unaware become enlightened to what may be going on around them, and show how they can take part in making a change too (by voting!).
Check out AIGA's version of this project, who I give full credit for starting the idea up in the first place to, and see what guidelines they used or what other artists in that community came up with!
