I took this photo in Vancouver at the Lyn Canyon Suspension Bridge. A road doesn't necessarily have to be a paved road. This natural road could have led me anywhere - and I was definitely ready to go on that journey! Such a beautiful park! I definitely recommend visiting Vancouver!

"Cold"

The door slammed shut with a gust of wind. I looked around but all I saw were shadows dancing upon the darkness of the room.

“Wow, it’s cold in here,” I observed as I rubbed my shoulders for warmth.

“Oh, sorry about that. Let me find the light and start a fire,” he said.

I had been dating Matt for a few months now but this was our first big getaway together. We both loved the snow and wanted a weekend of skiing and snuggling by a warm fire.

Fear quickly snapped me back to reality when I heard a frustrated grunt from the other room.

“Babe – we don’t have power!” Matt yelled.

“What do you mean? Didn’t you confirm our reservation? There must be some mistake.”

Trying to stay calm, I took a deep breath and tried to find Matt in the dark, through what I assume was the living room. When I reached him, Matt was using his cell phone for light in one hand while the other hand was consistently shocked by the electric box.

“Let me help you!” I begged.

Frustrated, he replied, “I got this. Go back to the car and get the logs for the fireplace. By hook or by crook, we are going to have a romantic weekend.”

Not looking to start a fight, I quickly turned and found my way out the door and back to the car. This is going to be a long weekend, I thought to myself.

I went to the eye doctor yesterday (fun times, right?) and was talking to the intern about HitRECord (she's a double major at SDSU for film as well). She was really interested in the website, so I wrote the website info on the back of a business card.

I thought it would be a cool idea (and you could sell them through the website store), if everyone had their own cards to hand out to promote the company. We are a business, and we want to keep it growing. We can have a collaboration and have people come up with ideas for the cards. We can sell the final product in the store, customize that one card for each individual person who wants to buy it and sell it in bulk.

You can make business cards look like anything nowadays, so why not a record button? It's the symbol of the website anyway. What do you guys think about my idea?

We can (hope to) have them made before the HitRECord "mini-tour" and help promote the shows by passing these out, along with flyers, etc.

“Oh, sugar! I have to clean the living room before the boys get home!”

I looked down at my hands and they are covered in blood. My circle skirt and blouse are scarlet red also. I slowly stand and turn toward my bed. The bedspread is covered in blood as well.

What happened? I thought to myself.

I close my eyes and a quick flash of the afternoon activities flood through my mind. My husband’s screams, the knife in my hand, his lifeless body on the living room floor.

            I gasp.

I quickly make my way to the dresser and pull out a pristine white bed sheet. The first sheets we purchased as husband and wife. Happier times. I shake my head and brush the memory out of my mind. The clock displays 2:30 PM and I realize only an hour remains until my children are home. My two beautiful, angelic boys.

With the sheet in one hand and my cleaning supplies in the other, I race down the stairs. I abruptly stop at the bottom of the landing as if I have collided with a brick wall. My husband’s lifeless body stares me straight in the eyes. I take a deep breath, say a short prayer, and begin my last duty as a wife: cleaning the house.

My mind switches into a militant frenzy as I clean the living room. I roll the body into the sheet, careful not to disturb the dead. With a quick glance and a sign of the cross, I push the body aside. I roll up the rug, take the mop from the hallway closet, fill the bucket with water and soap, and start scrubbing.

            He had it coming…

These earrings are comprised of black synthetic feathers, silver accents and charms to symbolize HitRECord literally and symbolically.

With the possibility of a tour coming up at the end of the year, I thought it would be awesome to start introducing some new art that could possibly be sold at the HitRECord shows. Merch tables across the music scenes have been trying to incorporate different items to sell and still be easy to transport from city to city. What is easier (and lighter - weight wise) than earrings?

What do you think? Who would buy these earrings if they were sold on the website or on tour? How much would you charge for them? Could they be a hot ticket item?

Officially crossed the border into Vancouver and seeing the city for the first time. Very beautiful. I loved the juxaposition between the city and the natural elements. It felt so metropolitan and yet, I felt a part of nature as well.

Hi Everyone! Please check out my video! A few things to know:

1. Yes, I am reading cue cards. I definitely could NOT memorize all that information! haha
2. "Let your voice be HEARD!" - Please comment on ideas, suggest things, add to the video, etc The more collaborations, the better!
3. If you want to read my proposal, comment back and give me your email address to send it to. I'd LOVE to hear your opinion!
4. If you have time, please add music, graphic designs, art, colors, etc. to enhance this video. Like I said, I'm an event planner, so I don't know the first thing about being creative when it comes to art! But - I do LOVE to create events and this would be such a fun tour to see from concept to creation!!!

My Dad and I don't see eye to eye on many things. We can talk for hours about life, art, music, politics, etc, but when it comes to certain topics, we disagree. Last weekend, we had a HUGE fight about me "going on tour." He doesn't think I should travel, "waste my money," and take all the time off from work. So after the awful fight I had with him, he finally came around. Well, kind of.

My HitRECord order came in the mail on Tuesday and I was showing my parents all the goodies I purchased. They LOVED "The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories." We're going to open our record player and play the Move on the Sun album too.Since my Dad was curious about the company behind the merchandise, I officially showed him the intro video to this website. He LOVED it. He said, "I really respect Joe and what he's doing." For my Dad to make a statement like that, it meant that HitRECord must have done something right.

On Thursday, we're eating dinner and my dad tells me that he had a conversation with the resident "movie buff" coworker at his office. The two were discussing "Looper" and Joe's movie choices as an actor. The "movie buff" said, "Yeah, I hear Joseph started a production company or something," and, without missing a beat, my dad says, "Oh yeah, HitRECord." The movie dude's mouth fell open. He was FLOORED that my dad knew the website. So while we were eating dinner that night, my Dad says to me, "I think I have earned the right to wear one of those buttons now." Haha - And yes, HE wanted the photo of us together wearing the button and one of my new HitRECord shirts.

I think he's warming up to the idea of me going on tour ;-)
