My first attempt at writing in a long time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My mind still foggy from sleep, I reach to wake you. I find your side empty and cold. Memories flood my mind. You, slowly descending into that final bed of earth. Black, so much black, and wreaths of roses standing erect on a mound of upturned dirt. A sea of stone remembrances, telling tales of lives left unfulfilled. So near to you but we've never been farther apart. Their muffled condolences echo in my ears. I feel wetness on my cheek, not mine. The sky has done my crying for me. Time races past me and still I remember. But no longer do I awake craving you. For we are together again, if only in dreams I create of us. |
