A couple snapshots of some taxidermied animals that I think have a lot of character. I'd love to see these photos used as resources/references to illustrate life back into these glass-eyed stuffed animals.
He is totally the Staring Contest Winner.

I keep imagining that these two are flirting, and sort of bashfully turning their heads after they bumped wings. I keep seeing the front one blinking coyly.
Either that, or they are in the middle of a fight where they are turning from each other in stubborness.

The back fox is totally telling a scary ghost story, right?

I remixed my own illustrations together = a snail girl + tea time.
Does anyone have a Tiny Story to support this? <3
Also, this lil' gal is available as a fun little sticker to purchase too, here - http://www.redbubble.com/people/brookeduckart/shop/stickers?ref=shop_product_refinement - Just sayin' ;^)
Not sure how this can be used on hitRECord, but I never know - you guys are so crazy creative!
For my "Intro to Metals" class, I made an Eadweard Muybridge tribute in Metals. I constructed a Copper Zoetrope and pierced Brass slides with his "Galloping Horse." This is a Stop Motion I made with the completed work.
For the curious, in-progress documentation can be seen here - www.flickr.com/photos/brookeduckart/sets/72157625144309896
Making a snow effect over the characters (to match the pacing and fluffiness of the snow falling in the footage) was a huge challenge on this one, but I think I pulled it off. What do you think? I also had more time today so I was able to add sound effects and dialogue to further the narrative.

Just showing another way these little guys (539499) could be used. You could print them out, cut them up and walk them around a room - try it!
Cut-outs available in resources.
[UPDATE: I got pulled into 3 large off-site projects for a bit, and I can't finish this off for a few... that said, it doesn't mean that other RECorders can't take a stab at adding to this and/or finishing it ;^) Go for it!]
Here's a low-res in-progess peek #2.
I am almost done, but there are a few things I want to fix up and I am thinking about adding a couple of fun elements to play outside the borders (we will see, not 100% sure on that yet) and of course I am working on a better ending transition and an ending scene, as well as the credit treatments.
What do you think so far?
[I couldn't resource Mirtle's original "Stay Away" Illustration. The link has been messed up for a bit now? http://www.hitrecord.org/records/739753]
I think this story would be really fun if we kept the animation to drawings that are more crude child-like renders. I did this little test with a chalkboard sort of aesthetic, but the whole animation could be child-like drawings in different mediums on different surfaces such as: markers on lined notepaper, finger paintings on newsprint, chalk on a sidewalk, crayon on coloring book pages, etc.
[UPDATE: I think I did fairly well keeping up with the frequency of this project for the first 15 monsters. Now, I am still going to continue to grow this collection, just not as crazy as daily. Stay tuned.]

==========
I am still learning After Effects and that is why I am doing a series of in-a-day "Motion Monsters" (Motion-tracking fun and character animating exercises) to develop my skillz, as well as challenge myself to create QUICKLY! Very therapeutic for an otherwise perfectionist that could work on a single project FOREVER and never finish it.
The idea is that I will create a mini scene and animation using characters and footage from the site, but I only allow myself one day to do so. I am going to do my best to do at least 5 a week for awhile. These will all be fairly rough and they will still need a lot of work, but to keep the "in-one-day" personal challenge I have to let go and move on.
After I get through more monsters, and feel more comfortable with the program, I then plan to return to all of these to further refine. But in the meantime I hope other RECorders have fun reMIXing and using these as resources.
Happy Holidays christopher.harn! I was your Secret Santa, so this Motion Monster is for you. Hope you have a fabulous Holiday Season!
P.S. Someone needs to turn christopher.harn's "Carnival Tequila" (852556) track into a Holiday Song. Not necessarily Christmas, I was thinking a tune moreso about the drinking and celebrating type; a general seasons greetings and/or a New Years tune. DO IT!

Really rough, not quite there, a lot of tweaks will still be needed when I return to this.

When I eventually make a final version of this animation: I am going to continue to tweak the lighting, I will touch up the track matte a bit when the man walks thru, and I think I will add more vector props (more trash, bottles, and mess to the scene.)

I PuppetWarp-ed ".some kind of deer." (995219) by Rimfrost legs to make the arms and used its eyes for spots - this was so fun!
Make your own monster mashup with these parts (1073927) and contribute your monster creations to this collaboration (1073929).
……….
***UPDATE: There is now a "Monster Mashup" MASTER sheet available (1076552) Which contains ALL the parts' sheets together as well as all the RESOURCE numbers are now noted in blue for ease of resourcing the exact parts you use in your monster creations. If a part does not have a number next to it then it was an illustration I did myself specifically for that sheet and all you need to do is resource the MASTER sheet (1076552) or the parts' sheet you are working from.
Thank you for being through in your resourcing, it makes it easier for the hitRECord crew to connect the dots if your monster eventually ends up in an end-product, as well as it gives the parts' artists the heads up to check out a reMIX they inspired.

[[UPDATE/CORRECTION: the insect parts with the number 78556 next to them is an album number, if you need to cite individually then the legs are 544693 and the wings are 544683.]] Let me know if you find any other issues.
Okay, wowzers, this took FOREVER for only 13 seconds. Damn.
I went for it and flushed out a short shot towards the end with a couple of powerful lines. The eyes are now looking around a little bit and emphasize some key words, lips are synced as close as my skills can reach, Puppet-Pins GALORE to get the facial features the way I wanted them, and added mood with lights/shadows. I would be thrilled if this was used in the final Dr. Sweet Tooth piece, but honestly this was more for myself to work out a couple of ideas I couldn't shake. I think it still needs work. Plus, maybe I went too complex?
HUGE hats-off to callmeishmael for all of his fantastic work on the character development and scenes. His artwork is so fun to work with! And to Edward Shallow for this crazy-ass World of Wonder that is starting to unfold.
Such talent. I am honored to work with you.
The elements/assets took me a couple days to finesse the way I like them for animating, so I don't want those to go to waste - I will upload the layered PhotoShop file tomorrow so that other animators can play with this scene. Please do! ;^)
