This is my friend, Trey.  He's had cancer in his lung since he was 17, now he's 24.  Last week, he went to Denver for an experimental surgery where they completely removed his lung.  Ironically, I painted this before the removal had even become an option.  The island represents John Donne, which Trey was reading, The sea is the sea of hope and the sparrow represents a life that matters.  The surgery went well, we will not lose hope.
