ABOVE IT ALL
Early one morning, my first thought awake
Was a burning idea, I just couldn't shake
So I crept outside quickly and gathered my tools
But I did my work quietly, suffering no fools
I fastened the flappers and stitched all the strings
And that night, at long last, I completed my wings
There was no one around to see them unfold
But my breath grew quick and my heart grew bold
And soon I was soaring, oh, upwards and on
Til the sky was all ‘round and the ground was all gone
And I watched as each object, each person, each place
Became one glowing orb spinning slowly in space
And I thought to myself, ‘through the eyes of a bird
This life and this Earth seem entirely absurd’
Then I suddenly felt indescribably small
And wondered if anything mattered at all
Like what people wished for or what people felt
Or whether the ice caps would finally melt
Then, I realized, after an hour or two
That things matter because, well, they matter to you
Although what you do won’t change much from up here
It can comfort or crush those you find yourself near
This universe may be enormous and strange
But look close to home and there’s much you can change
And so I decided, that's just what I'd do
Informed and enthused by my new point of view
Once I had landed back home safe and sound
I set about telling my folks what I'd found
I left out the part about flying through space
Since they wouldn't believe me in any case
But they both smiled bright when I told them existence
Is surely best savored when seen from a distance

CALLING ALL ARTISTS: COME MAKE ART w/ US RE: "MY FAVORITE THINGS!"
You may have heard that I wrote and directed the upcoming movie "DON JON." It's a comedy about this guy named Jon who is very into his things - his car, apartment, body, and the women in his life that he treats like objects on a shelf. I want us all to make art regarding the theme "MY FAVORITE THINGS."
For instance, ask yourself: What are your favorite things? Can you truly love a thing? Can people be considered 'things?' Do our favorite things define us?
I've had this movie in my head for so long now, I'm really curious to see what kind of stuff it inspires us to make together.
You can contribute to the Collaboration here: http://www.hitrecord.org/collaborations/7347
Here's how you can contribute to this collaboration:
EVERYONE: Grab a camera and tell us what your favorite things are, and why.
WRITERS: Write a story or script regarding this theme.
ILLUSTRATORS & GRAPHIC DESIGNERS: Draw visuals or remix image resources on the site regarding this theme.
MUSICIANS: Make a song regarding this theme.
FILMMAKERS & VIDEO EDITORS: Shoot footage or cut together resources into Short Films regarding this theme.
Also, this is cool, you can download a zip file of the "DON JON" trailer, with the music taken off for editing purposes here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/1313741. Resource it in what you make!
Thanks again <3

Cat: I’m gonna say something one of these times, you know?
Man: You should, I should.
Cat: It’s rude. Just climbing on somebody’s deck tearing things apart, rummaging uninvited.
Man: I’d go out there right now if it weren't so cold.
Cat: Me too, if you’d open the door for me. You know, can't turn the knob with paws, but otherwise, I'd put an end to this. No doubt.
Man: They’re big, right? I mean, for raccoons? They seem big.
Cat: Maybe, probably? They’re the only ones I've ever seen. I’ve been outside like 3 times.
Man: I don’t know if I’m supposed to wanna kick them or hold them. They’re kinda cute, but look kinda mean.
Cat: You don't hold me anymore.
Man: Things have just been kind of hectic at work lately and I come home stressed and not really in the mood, I just get so tired sometimes.
Cat: I understand, trust me. It's hard out ther for everybody righ tnow. I licked my ass for a solid 10 minutes yesterday, no break. I ran out of breath and by the end of it, I felt like I just needed some time for me. That's all you need.
Man: Hey, man, I love you. You’re a good dude, a good cat.
Cat: And I love you, when I feel like being held and I'm hungry.
