I believe there was talk about a calendar last year and maybe a collab, but I thought I'd start a new one for what would hopefully be a HitRECord calendar for 2012.

Basically, I was thinking of a wall calendar or a daily calendar featuring art and text by various hitRECorders.  You can read more about it in my record about the idea.  But this collab is here so we have a place to share and organize our ideas.  You could recommend RECords you would like to see showcased in a calendar, or just ideas for the design of it, mock-ups of how you envision it looking, anything you want really.

There seems to be some interest in the idea, so let's get to brainstorming!

There are so many great poems in the public domain.  Not only Shakespeare's sonnets, but the poetry of W.B. Yeats, John Keats, Walt Whitman, Tennyson, etc.  The list goes on and on.

I would love to see us draw inspiration from these poems.  As with the Shakespeare/Sonnet collab, I'd love to see people post their favorite public domain poems, do readings of them, put images and music to them, use them in videos...

As far as I can tell, there isn't an active collab specifically for public domain poetry.  (If there is and I missed it, I'm sorry!)

I'll start by posting some of my favorite poems.  Post one of yours too?  Just make sure they're public domain first.

Then let's start playing around with them!

tori made a wonderful video for David Hyde Pierce's reading of one of Shakespeare's sonnets.  This reminded me that Shakespeare is public domain, and rich for remixing!

So, what should you add to this collab?  You could...

Record yourself reading a Shakespearean sonnet.

Remix some of Shakespeare's text into new records. (Record readings of them!  Rewrite a scene and act it out.)

Write/draw/animate something based on characters from one of his plays.

Write your own sonnet.

Make a Shakespeare in 30 Seconds video and hit two collabs with one stone! (Turn your fav play into a 30 second video...or a tiny story!)

Etc. etc. etc.
