1. Who are you and what do you do? I am INFJ. I am a mirror trick. I seek singularities.
2. What's the origin of your artist name? It contains elements of my given name, and translates aptly.
3. What has been your biggest challenge with your art so far? Forgiving imperfections. I will never be equal to my heroes. Compelling catalysts, for me, remain emotional- less intellectual exercise than exorcism. Angst-ridden, self-indulgent, narcissistic, subtle as a soap opera, equally trite- I cringe. Then I hitRECord. I can't expect it to mean anything to readers- but it is useful to me, to let go.
4. Who or what is your biggest influence? Evolution, baby.
5. What is your wildest story? Can a Canadian plead the 5th?
6. What is the last book you read? I'm a multi-tasker. In current rotation: Poetry- Horoscopes for the Dead, Is, Red Bird, Love Is A Dog From Hell; Short Fiction- My White Planet, 2 collections each for Ian McEwan and A.L. Kennedy, and a multi-volume set of Philip K. Dick. Recent novels that left a mark- Year of Magical Thinking, Henry and June, Flow My Tears the Policeman Said.
7. If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be? The Most Interesting Man in The World! With girl parts. Perhaps Eva Amurri's, as long as we're upgrading.
8. What couldn’t you live without? Passion. Technically, insulin.
9. What is your secret talent? Secret-keeping.
10. Tell me about the last dream you remember having? Hmm. It was x-rated. And unexpected. A triangle, perhaps a quadrangle. Poignant intimacy between near-strangers, followed by an intense encounter with an accidental witness. Complicated chemistry all around. Possibly a slap. Desire, unwanted, inconvenient, irrational, messy...yet, somehow, inevitable. Ever held a grudge for bad acts committed against you in a dream? The flip side is far more awkward. Don't question the cameos. Just chalk it up to dream illogic.
11. What are you craving right now? Mind-blowing conversation. A kindred. Self-discipline.
12. What was the last song you fell in love with? Musical monogamy is unnatural. Playlist on repeat for the month so far: 30STM cover of Bad Romance/Stronger; Kanye- Power; Emily Haines- Crowd Surf Off a Cliff; Radiohead- Lotus Flower/Codex; Florence + the Machine- Blinding; JT Hope 4 Haiti cover of Hallelujah; Adele- Rolling in the Deep/Hometown Glory; Regina Specktor- Hero; David Byrne- Great Western Road. I could go on...
13. Can you hula hoop? If that's a metaphor? Absolutely.
14. What do you like? The E-Harmony answer is a manifesto. So, I'll pick a few recent randoms out of a hat, and you can google: Gail Vaz-Oxlade; the dude in the Victoria Jackson OWS video; Sad Don Draper; the chicks from mylefttitband; thom yorke dance covers; Rorschach quotes. I feel morally obligated to acknowledge Ryan Gosling for his performances in Crazy Stupid Love, Drive, and Ides of March. Just. Exhilarating. I say this as a non-Notebook-fanatic. And, I have not been swayed by abs.
15. What do you dislike? Insincerity. Cowardice. Complacency. Greed. Corruption. Passive-Aggression. Bigotry. Sadly... bugs, in my vicinity.
16. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Be the change you want to see in the world. Also, haters gonna hate. Of course last but never least: Stay thirsty my friends...
17. How and why did you start RECording? Social media in principle disturbs me. But Twitter sucked me in. The potential for absorbing knowledge, connecting with inquiring minds and inspiring ideas, was immense- and finally, irresistible. I wanted to include artists who make intriguing choices, and JGL was exactly the mix of intelligence, instinct, and humanity I look for. I never dreamed fate would grant a wish like hitRECord- yet here we are. Home. Thank-you, x ∞, to every lovely RECording soul. But first, last, most of all- to you, RegularJoe.

~No, no relation to Hannibal- although themes may be shared :) Recognizing the inherent risks of publicizing private works, I'd like to offer an important disclaimer: I am a creative... |

I am a word in a foreign language. Here, I have the wrong names. Legends tell of my birth to a star- I fell to the Earth as a song. |
