Brrrr......I've always HATED the snow!! In fact, this year was the first winter in my whole life that I was finally able to find fun and beauty in the snow.
I was born in during a blizzard, they say...and I've always mused that my first sights in this world were of horrible, horrible snow!
My mother sees the beauty in everything and has always LOVED snow. I could never relate. She calls the big huge fluffy flakes "fairy snow".
My husband LOVES to drive in the snow. Crazy. I've always been white knuckled and sweaty palmed every single time. But I've been consciously facing my fears, one by one, and overcoming them. This one is no exception. I did my first donuts recently,,,, amazing!
I bought a house last November, and it's the cutest thing ever! Really cozy and surrounded by trees. The area I chose, of course, turned out to be where the snow hits the very hardest in the Salt Lake Valley. Great.
After first big storm, to my delight, my back yard was like this beautiful winter wonder land! All of the huge pine trees weighed down so heavy with the weight of the snow. I fell in love.
We woke one snowy Saturday morning, my husband giddy with the idea of sledding. We gathered some loved ones, bundled and went. It turned out to be one of my favorite days ever!
I have had such an adamant aversion to snow my whole life, I literally don't even own snow boots. (I had to wear polka-dot galoshes when we went sledding.) I've lived here my whole life and never been skiing or snowboarding. It's practically sacrilege! They say we have the greatest snow on earth, and I've been loathing it for so very long. This is exciting in that I see the error of my ways and still have new things to try and love!
The moral of this silly story is this:
Try things you've never tried. Try things again with an open mind. Face your fears. Expand your horizons. Stretch. See the beauty in each moment! This is how you live life to the fullest!
