Eulange made a reply to Joe's talk about plagiarism in an attempt to make it clear why they hitRECord. I think it's important, and interesting, to see why people contribute their creative souls to this place. I think any new hitRECorders, or anyone just taking a glance at this site to even see what it is, will find the answer to this question helpful in deciding if they too want to become a hitRECorder. So let's hear it hitRECorders: Why do YOU hitRecord? I'm loving all of these, esp. the poems and the video response!! |

From Pamagotchi comes this BRILLIANT idea!! [Original resource link: http://hitrecord.org/records/218359] "An idea that I was thinking about, which might now tie in quite well with the call for Writers for the Fall Formal! Imagine a large game of Consequences..you know when you Write a sentence, fold it over, someone writes the next line..at the end you have this interesting story with lots of input from different people. Well, I thought something like this could be done with penpals! What if I were to start a "story"...write the first line. I send it to a HitRecord penpal, who then writes the next line. They pass it on to one of their penpals. The next penpal writes the next line. This letter could go all over the world, we could get loads of people involved, lots and lots of one line ideas rolled into one ball of literary deliciousness!! Now, the one hitch is that I wouldn't know how to finish it. I am guessing that we should have a cut off date, say, a week before the Fall Formal? That would give us time to post the story thus far on HitRecord, and people could start playing around with it. Joe has called for writers to write a story about the Town Theater, so that could maybe be the starting point for our story? If people were to add in lines that could be recorded at the Fall Formal, that would be pretty cool too! Sooo that's my idea. If you: want to get involved/have any comments/know how to make this idea better or more refined, please post in the conversation section! We could get this started tomorrow, and I think it would be brillo-fun! If you have a better plan let me know and we can go that direction!! 1. Make a remark here saying you want to be part of this. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Make an actual remark because some people might just like it but may not want to do any writing.. which is fine, we need readers too, but I don't want to accidentally add someone to the list of participants and them be all "oh noooo" or something. :) 2. Check back often to see if you are tagged next to add a line to the story. 3. A week before the collab someone or more than one someones will have a final product but of course.. the nature of the site allows further remixing until we are blue in the face. But something mostly final will be available for the Fall Formal! Pam started us off and we're on our way with this.. if we tag you but you don't reply within a day or so we might skip you and move on and come back to you because that'll help keep this going! It's a bit tough to make sure everyone tags asap, as we get busy and all. And as freedomrollers points out, this may not be what everyone expected but it is what it is.. which in my opinion that means it is pretty much awesome regardless of where it gets used. You can't force this to be anything more than a story told one line or two at a time. If you think it could be done better.. or if you want to make a video with a friend or two showcasing this man freaking out .. that would be pretty much awesome! Are we RECording.... in HOUSTON? This is the collaboration page for all the Houston (and nearby city/suburb/whatever areas) HitRECorders that want to get together to watch the Fall Formal while dressed in our best! For some this may mean Texas Ties and Cowboy Boots, for others your old prom or homecoming dress... for others flip-flops and shorts because we all know there is chance it'll still feel like summer by the time this thing hits! Anyway, I live in the Friendswood Area and I want ideas of where we might go to watch this OR in the very least, go for an after party where we can get together and share ideas that came from watching it, where we can make live collaborations!! Then after, let's post our results here and remix until we're blue in the face!! |
