**This was an idea for SITC, but thought it could work for the the Fall Formal** Inspired by Eirwen's idea for the live event at SITC. I've come up with this, and hope you guys like it! Darkness is present on the stage. A few moments go by. Loudly, a lone spotlight shines over a single easel holding a canvas at the center of the stage. A moment goes by and slow footsteps can be heard in the shadows as they make their way to the easel. The person appears under the spotlight, looks at the audience then to the blank canvas, and draws a big circle in red. The circlemaker steps aside, appreciates the beauty of the red sphere, then is struck with a brilliant idea. The circlemaker touches the center of the sphere as if it were a button. At that very moment, a spotlight flicks on over a person sitting on a chair while writing on papers. The ButtonMaker walks over to the writer with wonderment. The Writer shows the ButtonMaker what they have concocted. The ButtonMaker explodes with excitement at how great the piece is, then drags The Writer with their papers to the buttoned canvas. The bewildered Writer wonders what they are seeing and is persuaded by the ButtonMaker to press it. The Writer presses the button that immediately sparkes a spotlight over an artist painting a picture. They rush over to the Artist and like what was painted. They eagerly show the Artist the magical button at center stage. The Artist is somewhat perplexed, grabs his red paint, and fills in the circle. The ButtonMaker and the Writer encourage the Artist to press the button. The Artist ignited another spotlight over a singer exhausting marvelous tunes out their lungs. The ButtonMaker, Writer, and Artist run over to the Singer with the buttoned canvas. They praise the Singers voice and instructs them to push the red button. The Singer has stopped singing but their voice carried on. The Singer has turned on the spotlight over a band who accompanies the vocals with a melody. They run over to the Band and love what they are hearing..but the ButtonMaker thinks something is missing. The ButtonMaker picks an instrument from a band member and adds a light harmony. The original band member playing that instrument understands the new harmony and is given their instrument back to then begin playing it. The ButtonMaker tells that person to then press the button. On goes a spotlight over dancers making their way across and off the stage while being followed by a camera man. The Writer stops the CameraMan to give him a face of confusion. The CameraMan gladly walks over to a small group of actors in the middle of a scene, then he begins to film them. The Writer shows the button to the CameraMan. There is hesitation. The Dancers come back on stage and the CameraMan signals one of the dancers and one of the actors to come over. They have a quick conversation. The trio press the button simultaneously and turn on a screen behind everyone filled with memorable footage and animation. At this time, the Band looks up then begins to add a much more empowering feel to the song--the singer, too, takes note. Everyone on stage is absolutely amazed at what they have created. The Band leave their section and walk over to the center stage easel as their song continues to play. The ButtonMaker places the red magical button back on its center stage easel as the Actors, CameraMan, Dancers, Band, Singer, Artist, and the Writer form a large circle around the center easel. The ButtonMaker fills in the last empty spot to complete the circle. Every last person forming the circle removes their first layer of clothing revealing a bright red shirt as the music and video fades out. "Are you recording?" said proudly by the HitRECorders. ____________ Quick note: No actual dialogue between the hitRECorders. Another quick note about lighting that I couldnt incorporate to the treatment above without killing the flow: Spotlight 1&2: Center easel station The ButtonMaker will appear under these spotlights when they walk to the easel, but when they begin to walk towards the Writer, Spotlight 2 will becoming their personal spotlight. This would be the case with the Writer, Artist, Singer, and Band. By the time we get to the Dancers they have one spotlight that appears and disappears with them while another spotlight that was overlaying the Dancers spotlight stays on the CameraMan. The CameraMans spotlight will also have an overlaying spotlight as he walks towards the Actors, then that overlaying spotlight would become the Actors spotlight. When the Dancers come back on and stay on stage they keep their spotlight. When everyone is joining the full circle all the lights over the persons/groups and stations will migrate to the center to light up the circle! Hope you enjoyed it!..and hope the spotlight situation isnt so confusing lol |
