Sara_Nova's Collaborations
|
I've decided to start a collaboration for this. Please read the featured record "It Gets Better Project." I would love for people to contribute any type of record pertaining to childhood and teenage bullying, but ESPECIALLY how they've overcome that to become adults who are happy and have positive experiences to share. Show teenagers who are struggling through painful times that there is life to be had after high school and that it gets better. Dan Savage has a wonderful project geared specifically towards LGBT teens, but I'd like hitRECord to expand this for all teenagers. Bullying is horrible no matter the reason behind it. Let's put some positive messages out there for the kids who need it most. |

This collaboration is for the short film I've been writing. This initially sprung from the other disaster movie records and discussions. I've written a rough first draft so far and have lots more work to do on it before it's ready to shoot. Please offer your comments and suggestions. Thanks to those who've already offered their comments, they're greatly appreciated! If you are interested in being involved, let me know. I'm taking on the role of writer/director for this, but I'm always open to help from others. I will probably do the initial editing of the film, but I would really love having someone with better editing skills and better software to do this. |

Inspired by Pickle Blossom's Birthday/Holocaust Remembrance records, this collaboration is being started as a way to acknowledge acts of genocide and oppression throughout history and today. I'm not sure what shape a collaboration like this should take, so I very much want to hear your ideas. I visited Buchenwald last summer and after the numbing and heartbreaking experience of touring the grounds, I finally lost it when I entered the art museum and saw the pieces created by the prisoners during their time at the camp and afterwards. Art says so much that words fail to express. What can we contribute? |

I want to start a year-long collaboration. It's still early in the new year and I was inspired by Joe's "28 again" record he released last year. http://www.hitrecord.org/records/9172 What I would like is for everyone who is interested to record their own birthday thoughts this year. Joe began with: Twenty-eight years ago today I was born or so they say It might be nice if you include a phrase similar to that in your own recording. Whatever you decide to do or say, please include your age as I would like to get a good cross-section of all the ages of people involved with hitrecord. You might also want to say which day is your birthday. I'd prefer it if you do the recording on your actual birthday, but If your birthday has already passed, that's ok. Mine's not until March, so I'll post my own record then. Happy Birthday! |

I've got an idea rattling around in my head for a kind of musical ensemble. I'm a composer and I'm used to having the musicians in front of me. I give them music, they rehearse it and perform it. Nice and simple. I'd love to try something similar here. I write a piece of music and other people here record themselves playing their parts and I mix it together into a cohesive ensemble piece. First - I just want to know if anyone is interested in participating in something like this. Second - I need to know what instrument(s) you play and at what skill level. If you have musician friends who are interested, that'd be fantastic! Third - I plan on posting traditionally notated music. If you can't read music, it doesn't mean you can't contribute, but please let me know. I can send you a MIDI version of your part so you can learn by ear. When I've got a few instruments available to me, I'll start writing short ensemble pieces and will post them here. Anyone else is free to remix, record those pieces as they please, but I want a clean recording, preferably a few takes, of your instrument's part. When I get all the pieces from everybody, I put it together. Let's make music together <3 |
