This is a place where those of us who have been selling our art for years can help people who are new at selling their art - outside this site of course - figure out how to price things, each in our respective areas of expertise. Pricing is complicated! You have to factor in a lot of variables for every item. So if you don't know what price you should ask for a work, post your question here. If you have experience selling ANY creative work, please heart this Collab so that the questions will show up in your ACTIVITY stream and you can help out if someone is struggling with something you know about. Remember, hitRECord is a wonderful collaborative site, but we all must thrive as individual artists in order to contribute our best to the collective effort. So let's help each other out! xo, Pickles |

This Collab is to create a Graphic Novel - using photographs of the real world and costumed models and drawn images or any other means you can imagine to make a visual RECord. I think this mash-up is a perfect way for hitRECorders to collaborate with writing and all manner of visuals to create one powerful, cohesive REsult! And it could even be published! Feel free to work on whatever inspires you, but I am hoping to do a Graphic Novel of a different sort of Jack-The-Ripper tale. In this story, "Jack" is actually a female. Not just any female, but that rarest of breeds: the female serial-killer. I already designed and made some really unique costumes I'd like to use for the live models, so I hope others like this idea. (You can see my design work at www.SarahJennyDesigns.com for an idea of my style...) Currently doing preliminary work from the short screenplay of this story while I convert it to comic book "script" format. For those of you wondering, comic "scripts" consist of three things per image (multiple images per page, of course): a description of the characters/objects/actions in the image; the dialogue for the bubbles; and the narration for the edges. Feel free to start uploading image elements, anything from entire buildings to outdoor scenes to a cool birdcage that would look awesome in the picture of the bedroom someone else uploaded. Hey - maybe the images will tell their own tale. So start tossing things in here if you think they're visually striking in any way and maybe someone will write a little script about some pictures and someone else (me, you, anybody) can assemble the pieces in Photoshop! Don't be detered if it doesn't fit with the story I uploaded. That's just one story. Do what inspires you! Maybe just include a note with the image if it's for something specific. Or start a new Collab. But let's all agree that if we start other Graphic Novel Hybrid Collabs that we'll all mention where to find the others. That way whomever likes this idea will know they can work on more than one if they want to. So if you start another one please post a note here, as a Titled REsult so we don't miss it in conversation, and then whomever is here can go see if they want to work on your story too, and vice-versa. :^) |

Post your dreams. Recurring dreams. Intense dreams. Vision-like dreams. Imaginary dreams. Dreams are an incredibly rich source of creative mulch in which to grow a RECord. Interpreting a dream can lead to new and unexpected directions in thinking, which ALSO breeds RECords. Dreams can remind us of the symbolism that surrounds us all the time. There are many methods of dream interpretation. Hopefully each dream posted will receive multiple interpretations. Both by the dreamer and by everyone else. Hopefully those interpretations will lead to... whatever they lead to. So what did you dream about? |

Everyone has a different definition of "art," just like everyone has a different definition of "love." What does "art" mean to you? What intrinsic values define something as a work of art? What effect does art have on you? What is the difference between good art and bad art? Is it a question of technique - or something less tangible? What IS art? This Collaboration is inspired by RE:love, and by the accidental rudeness, the misunderstanding and the ensuing discussion/debate amongst myself - the rude one lol - Mushr, RKBear, and Metaphorest over at mushr's thought-provoking REsult of Pete's Challenge at: |

This Collaboration is to centralize conversation and progression of costumes I - with whomever would like to participate - am making for TeaFaerie and LizzieMackie, which they will then use in some kind of performance piece that they will RECord and present for the enjoyment of all! And then who knows what they'll be remixed into! Just so you know what you're working with, my website is: www.SarahJennyDesigns.com and I have 18 years professional experience and 2 degrees. (I mention that to give you confidence in my methods, not to brag or be controlling.) For those of you who don't know, TeaFaerie is a firespinner/flow artist and LizzieMackie is a dancer. It is their records of their talents and individual styles that have inspired me to suggest this collaboration to them. Lucky for me, they agreed to play dressup! But this is NOT a closed collaboration. It does have a goal that involves specific members. But it's meant to be fun. Aaaand... Part of the purpose of doing this as a collaboration on the site, instead of through emails - which is how I normally work with long distance projects - is so that any other sewers/designers out there who might like to design things for various projects on HitRECord can see some of the tricks I use for long-distance fittings and fabric selection, etc. Because I'm sure alot of you sew, but you might be hesitant to try to sew something for someone on the other side of the world. So hopefully seeing that it IS possible to custom fit, from a distance, will inspire others to use that talent for HitRECord projects as well! Because some productions do fine with jeans and a tshirt, but others might benefit from costumes that have been planned/made just for that story/setting, etc. Especially as HitRECord progresses toward more "professional" productions, it's important that we all feel like we can give ALL of our individual abilities to our projects. But really this is just for fun right now! So we'll start with these two costumes, and see what the results inspire! OK ladies, please press REC when you're ready to start! |

Hi everyone! I want to thank you all very much for the text records that you contributed to the Manifesto! But this is HitRECord and we would be fools to think that a traditional text-only Manifesto could contain our spirit! So I am pleased to say that, thanks to Pixel Pilgrim, it's time to take this to the next layer! Pixel Pilgrim had an awesome, heartfelt idea that she recorded for us in the original Manifesto Collaboration thread. But I didn't want it to get lost in there under all the text records. So it's the featured record here called Manifesto Idea. The plan is to resource the text records - gathered under the original collaboration thread here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/23296 and give them life! (Please note, Dan and TeaFaerie's most excellent Manifesto is located at: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/27299 ) But since we're going to be working in a new medium - resourcing the texts - I thought it would be easier to start a shiny new Collaboration thread so that everything is easier to find and work with for this new layer. Now I turn you over to Mz. Pilgrim, to explain her idea: |
