they came from mars.

out from the black like jaguars,

their faces mapped with scars.

we put them in jars

to look at them beneath our radar.

not yet have they called war,

but these things from afar,

from that distant star

so different from ours

how can we trust something so bizarre?

in the end they will be our saviors

but that's not what we'll write in our memiors

we'll keep history ajar

for our reputations we will not mar.

I think Joe said it best when he said "The meaning comes after."

There's a lot going on in this RECord that I can't truly explain. When I edit, I'm really just piecing together what *feels* right. This felt right to me.

Feeling doesn't always transition into understanding. And that's the power of creation. And art itself.

Lukus' "Accents" put me in a particular state of mind and I went exploring through the site to find visuals that emoted the audio. GimikJo has an excellent compilation album from earlier today and that was a big help. Also searching by "tags" is always a great way to find pieces to the puzzle. And some RECords, like "A Boy's Dream," are sitting in the back of my mind (and saved on my computer) just waiting for the right project.

So, here's "Dream Ascension." I'd love to hear what everyone's interpretations are.

I wanted to make it for a long time, but only today I felt brave enough to begin:)
So, this is my first draft for score for this video. I'll try to fix some problems and add details later.
BTW, this is also my first try in writing score. This site makes me do so many things for a first time:)

Tiny and tempted, the tooth sprite took teeth, from bitty blameless babes who buried bitey bits beneath pleasantly puffy pillows on which their pudgy heads did plant, but upon arising to the abs...

[// I wanted to come up with another trilogy, but couldn't seem to figure out a good chord progression. Well that all changed with "the werewolf"'s basic beginning chords: I could easily do three different styles (well...different to me, I suppose) and somewhat have a through-line. While the other two aren't as blatant as this one about its werewolf narrative, I tried to make it as ambiguous as possible. How well that turned out, I'm not sure, but I love the shit out of this song. Man, that sounds pretentious, but I don't mean it to be. It was just fun to write and record. //]

there's something beautiful i don't understand
when i watched the bodies decompose

i could not hear your howl; the wind was wrapping around my heart
i wonder now if you would stay knowing i would always be the same
i wonder if it'd grow on you…

the winter's chill has no effect on me now
i know it's only temporary
and when i wake from my hibernation
i'll still smell the blood on my skin

i could not see you dancing under the harvest moon
i wonder now if i would have stayed had i known you'd change
i wonder if you'd grow on me

heaven wouldn't allow
your metamorphosis

This is a short stop motion piece I made a while ago composed of about 600 photographs.

I thought I'd post it incase a beachy collaboration ever popped up, but I'm sure it'll get lost somewhere in the hitRECord abyss...

Shot underwater and later color balanced and desaturated in Photoshop. I enjoyed the illusion of an underwater breeze that water can create.
