Who are you and what do you do?

I am Nicole,Nikki,or Nik...depends on the day.I am a musical artist, vocalist,voice teacher,music lover,possessor of useless music degrees,writer,ponderer,lover of languages(surtout le français),dreamer with too much time on her hands...you know... the usual suspect.

What's the origin of your artist name?

Well the name is Nik and I am a mezzo-soprano...but I assure you that I’m the only mezzo like me in existence.

What has been your biggest challenge with your art so far?

Staying in this passionate relationship with my art even when the circumstances surrounding it break my heart.

Who or what is your biggest influence?

My mommy.

What is your wildest story?

Well...there was that one time with the firecrackers...

For study, “How Children Learn Music”, for fun: “L'Exil et le royaume”- short story collection by Albert Camus

What is your secret talent?

Tell me about the last dream you remember having?

I was getting chased around a hospital by some secret cooperation, it was all very “action thriller”.

What are you craving right now?

Freedom.

What was the last song you fell in love with?

I fall in love with something new every 5 minutes. I suppose the last one I can remember would be Quadron’s Herfra Hvor Vi Står, but the entire Quadron album is amazing. I also fell in love with Berstein’s Chichester Psalms and Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin all over again.

Can you hula hoop?

Not anymore.

What do you like?

MUSIC,MUSIC,MUSIC,MUSIC,MUSIC...and silence.Laughter fits in there somewhere...and maybe an occasional late night.

What do you dislike?

Dishonesty.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Maybe the question should be what is the best piece of advice I’ve taken? I tend to screw up when it comes to that part.

How and why did you start RECording?

It all started when mom gave me that little carry-along karaoke machine when I was 4...I haven’t stopped hitting RECord since. Why? All those thoughts have to go somewhere in the universe I suppose.
