Thanks to the super talented Marke who's been working hard on our site there is now a bar at the top of the page with a link to leave feedback. You can go to the site below to join in the discussion. The wonderful Brett has been answering our listening to our ideas, but has recently asked us to keep our posts brief and only leave put one idea/issue per post so please respect these wishes. He is working hard for us so that we can all be heard and can give feedback on the wonderful site we have here. Also, please read the other posts before you post a new thread. Chances are someone else has probably already posted on it so it's best to comment on their thread instead, or simply +1 to bump the post if you agree with it or have the same problem. http://getsatisfaction.com/hitrecord
Thanks! :-) |

This is the version that played at Sundance 2012!
This is the version that played at Sundance 2012
I've been wanting to put a video together on this topic for a while, so I finally did it today. I'm really pleased overall with the level of discourse that's currently happening, but I thought this might help break things down a bit and making giving constructive feedback not so scary. I know that it can be, so hopefully there's some helpful points in here!
This is my first draft for a complete Sundance 2012 RECord. This draft contains the introduction, the sing-a-long, and the tiny stories. Let me know what you guys think!
UPDATE (02/03) I've made a second edit. The video is in the "Results" panel.
I think I'm starting to get my musical mojo back...thanks Malicore!
Well I've been to heaven and back
I've seen too many things
To think that
I am some kind of angel
Pounding the concrete on these long city nights
To find something
That will make me
Some kind of angel
Throw out your liquor
And throw me a rhyme
Cos I am not on earth
To be wasting my time
I'm coming from a land where blood runs hot
No Sir, I am not
Some kind of angel
Stomp out your move on the singing floor
Oh I won't ignore
The needs of my lover
Sassy gone sally
Come sugar me sweet
I'll turn up the heat
For my lover
I'm coming from a land where the blood runs hot
No Sir, I am not
Some kind of angel
Some kind of angel
Pour me a liqour
Make it double this time
Cos it's Friday in the Apple
And I'm in Prime
Rusting the steel of the silhouettes
And you bet I will keep on
Till the sunrise
Conversing with the alley cats
Till morning comes and I will keep on dancing
Till the sunrise
Throw out your liquor
And throw me a rhyme
Cos I am not on earth
To be wasting my time
I'm coming from a land where the blood runs hot
No Sir, I am not
Some kind of angel
Some kind of angel

Calling all Animators, all Illustrators, we are working with The Gregory Brothers on a second episode of the HITRECORD classic, They Can't Turn The Lights Off Now! And it's on the books to be screened at Sundance next week!
Episode One rallied behind Gay Civil rights, Episode 2 discusses the civil liberty to record Police and Law Enforcement officers throughout the country. Certain states in the USA have actually taken steps to outlaw anyone from photographing and video taping their local law enforcement, a direct slap in face to the First Amendment.
That's why The Gregory Brothers remixed the "Lights Off" music and wrote a new story with new lyrics and characters that addresses this concern. What they have made is fucking awesome!
And now it's our turn to start designing and animating the short film.
Here's what to do:
ILLUSTRATORS -
Design the 3 main characters:
Design Background Settings:
Also, it'd be great if you can contribute your character designs along with the limbs, head, and torso seperated, so that animators can have total control and ease while animating.
Animators - Once we get some good Character and Setting designs, start animating! But please do it as simply as you can. The idea is to get this done in 7 days to be screened at Sundance!
Okay, get to work!
Thanks Again

Is Sunday again and it means that it’s time for RE Recs, these are my recommendations for this week; I hope you all enjoy this video:
Special Recommendations: I want to recommend 2 collaborations this week:
http://hitrecord.org/records/627137
Music Recommendations for this week: I used this music for my Video this week and also they are my music recommends, both songs are wonderful, I highly recommend them:
Fred by megancarnes
&
Howl in the Woods (w/more hitrecorders howls) by May McDonough
I used 2 records as an Intro for my video: Red Riding Hood Animated logo by nilgravity and RE REC Spinning Bumper by MattConley!
That’s all for today guys, see you all next Sunday, have a fantastic week!
This is a short film/stop animation I made with the help of my friend. I think it would be really cool if someone contributed some sort of voice over. I originally intended it to be for the Love collab but I think it works for Independence as well. It's about a lonely, shy girl who finds her strengths in her imagination and throws herself into her writing (thus the paper girl made of words) but she's still lonely, and then she meets someone else like her. I guess it's about love as a connection of imagination, meeting someone on a more abstract level. Anyway, whatever your interpretation, have at it! I've spent several days on this and I need a break.
Since we're still having some problems with the dashboard and recommendations page, I think that making re-recommendation albums and videos have become even more important than usual because they're a great way for us to find records we may have missed.
I thought I'd make a tutorial explaining some of the nuts and bolts of re-RECing in general, and then talk about how I make my re-REC vids.
Hope this is helpful!
