Hello! This is my first post on Hitrecord, discovered it on the weekend and just had to do my rendition of Fred.

I wanted him to kind of look like a toy, as the story reminded me of a kids poem, and I liked the idea of him wearing a hat to try to hide his quirks, but they just burst out the top anyway.  This is a polished version, but I'll post some rough sketches of him in other views, and without the hat.

Put together a Tiny Film for MadisenMusic's "Sleep Contrast" Tiny Story.

I would like to tighten up the intro with the couple. I'll probably cut from them in the two shot and maybe silhouette the backs of their heads with a reworked composition of the TV. The hand-holding is a bit distracting I think and doesn't really establishinsomnia in any waY.

Sometimes a smile can be more sad.

...All he wanted was to live a normal life.

His subtleties and contradictions. Can you see?

My interpretation of the poem. I thought he made the decision himself. Such a tragedy, indeed.

If there are suggestions and opinions, I'd be very grateful to hear. :) I'm thinking of making a silent comic strip based on the literature when I get the time after our exams~ hopefully I could push through! (on my exams, I mean) xD

I hope you enjoy ♥

EDIT: The unedited version is linked below in the Resources so it's easier to manipulate. Have fun!

Here's my take on illustrating The Man with a Turnip for a Head, paper-cut style. I've been wanting to do something with this story for a long time, and I'm excited that we'll be working to make it into a short film for Sundance!
