LilacAmy11's Collaborations

Issaness posted a text RECord of her "what if" ponderings the other day and since then a lot of people have added their own ideas. I love these... I think all the ideas in them are ripe for illustration and further stories to be created. Contribute your "what if " RECords here, write a longer story about a "what if" someone else has already written about, illustrate a "what if" someone has written about, make a song or video about it... whatever. Let's make these "what ifs" reality, at least in our hitRECord world:) (Personal note: I really, really, really want to see animations of wirrow's vomiting one and moonbug's meteor/pinata one:) |

I've always been fascinated by and appreciative of rhythms and since becoming pregnant and feeling how the baby reacts to rhythms (when I tap dance, when I play her music w/ strong drum beats, etc.) it's just piqued my curiousity even more. Unborn and newborn babies gravitate rhythms that mimic mom's heart-beat. Is that why every culture, world-wide has some form of rhythmic music? Are we trying to replicate heart-beats? Is it something about the repetative nature of rhythms? I have no idea, but I'd love to explore the idea more:)
This is one of those "organic" collabs where we'll see where it goes. Maybe into a song? Poem? Video? i dunno. |

Hello all ... So on the college tour, Joe asked a number of questions about art and the nature of art. Also, I think I think it would be a good idea for us to discuss some of those questions, or other art/creation-related questions here. I think this can be valuable for a number of reasons: - Discussing these questions can benefit our art here and help us grow as people/artists to see varying viewpoints while further developing our own. - Hopefully something could come out of this (like short film or something). - Selfish reason: I am a nerd and really like having intellectual debates. Here are the questions Joe had (and I guess we were on the same wavelength with the collab idea... lol http://www.hitrecord.org/records/261108) but we certainly don't have to stick to those questions! - What's the difference between art & pop culture (and is there a difference)? - How strongly do you value originality in your work? Is there a such thing as originality? - How do you feel about intellectual property laws? - How do you feel about having your work remixed? - Do you prefer to work alone or in collaboration with others? - How do you thnk art/media can impact the world at large? (obviously some of these are going to be more fruitful than others. I think (well I hope) we all like having our work REmixed, or we wouldn't be here:) But I think we can expand on those and discuss why we think it's valuable, etc.) I'd like to add one of my own: - Does being an artist for a living or as a job make the person a more valid artist? Can someone who only does art as a hobby and chooses not to have a career in an arts-related field be an artist? |

I originally asked for these thank you videos on Twitter because of a video I'm making for 11/11... but there were so many awesome RECords, I wanted to make a collab of its own. And make something out of these... So say thanks to hitRECord... tell what hitRECord means to you... |

I love the ocean and being underwater (which is unfortunate since I live in Chicago). I think watching and listening to the waves is probably my favorite way to meditate. I'm a scuba diver an although I don't get to do it as often as I'd like, the feeling of being underwater letting the current just take you and the quiet w/ the only sound being the rhythm of your own breathing is unbelievably peaceful and serene and exhilerating, all at the same time. I'd like to do something with that feeling, or just the idea of oceans/wave/underwater in general but I don't know what... so I thought I'd get a collab together and see where it goes:) I know there have been other sea/ocean/water collabs but I'd like this one to focus more on the serene and meditative nature of water and mostly focus on underwater. |

Hello... with Fall Formal being just over two weeks away, I thought it would be helpful for us to organize some thoughts, so let's all make albums of Fall Formal RECs based on what Joe said could be useful for Fall Formal in the REGularity from 9/20 (Getting Ready, Voting Vid, Fake History vids, Tiny Story vids, Stories Using the Fall Formal Setting, Anglerpod, Nebulullaby... I also added Buring Dan collab and a few other thoughts). For mine, I limited myself to only 3 choices from any collab (because for most of them, I could have included about 10 RECords and that's not really helpful in narrowing down:), which is probably a good idea I think we all fully understand Joe's absence on the site, but at the same time, we all want to put on an awesome show. I thought maybe we could all do an album like this, to make things easier for when Joe is ready, or if Jared is planning pieces. Also, if you want to make an album of your own Fall Formal RECords, that'd be awesome too. |
