Jules Alder's Collaborations
|
U.S. National Public Radio recently diverted our attention with its fourth round of "Three Minute Stories." That is, stories of 600 words or less using the following words: "fly," "trick," "button" and "plant." The deadline for this round was 11:59 (EDT) on 11 April 2010, the shorts will be judged by writer Ann Patchett and the winner and honorable mentions will be read on the air. No money is involved, only books. You can read all about it all here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125237510 |

So I did a little research and, as far as I can tell, there's no collaboration page where people can post their short films for others to have their way with. For shame, because Carniferous wants people to do just that by REMixing his short film, The Space Between Us (TSBU). This short moved me to tears, and I can see it's affecting others in wonderful ways, so here is a page dedicated to all short films whose makers would like to see something transformational happen with one ore more aspects of their work. For now, the featured RECord is Carniferous's short. But that can change. Hopefully, this will turn into a community page where editors, writers, musicians, directors, actors, production designers, costuming and makeup artists and all other artists without whom film would be so staid can show up and do their worst, meaning their best. Why The Space Between Us? You should really watch it for yourself, but suffice it to say that I've been a vocal fan of Canadian independent films since Blood & Donuts and this is a good example of why. It's got heart...29 of them and counting :) Technological Note: I use iMovie, Garage Band and Switch software in conjunction with each other to do pretty much everything audio-visual. (Switch converts audio files from, say, .aif format to .mp3 to make them hitrecord friendly.) You may have all that (or better), you may not. But you shouldn't need it to work here, with stem files (audio-only, visual-only etc.) If you have any troubles, leave a remark--we'll troubleshoot. |
