Hello, dear fellow hitrecorders. As some of you know, I've been a bit AWOL for a while, sorting out my life as I prepare to move down the US Eastern seabord ~ 1100 miles to attend film school in New Orleans. Once classes begin, I'll schedule Internet time for HR so that I don't have to be such a stranger and so that when a fellow artist is in need like one is today, I can put out a notice like this with more confidence that it will find an audience.
So at this point, you're probably wondering about the project. Well, it's a (probably more European length) suspense feature titled UP COUNTRY to be shot in the northern Maine woods. Director Lucas McNelly (Blanc de Blanc, gravida, L'Attente) just completed a highly successful Kickstarter campaign which took him over his goal of a $4k budget. If anyone can shoot on a shoestring budget and make it look phenomenal, it's Lucas. Naturally, there is money budgeted for travel, to bring in the cast and crew; but, unfortunately, the DP for the project has suffered from a Visa impediment. Scheduling will need to be sorted out with the director, who you can reach most expediently at lmcnelly@gmail.com. If you are a DP with a flexible enough schedule for some time off next month -- or if you know someone who is -- then you should decidedly consider this opportunity enough to send a link to your work (or give that other fellow a nudge to do the same). The film is "kind of Hitchcock meets Malick" in its visual landscape; if you think you can foot that bill, I wish you the best of luck. You can read about the UP COUNTRY Kickstarter campaign details here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lmcnelly/up-country-a-film-about-a-maine-fishing-trip-gone You can also become better acquainted with filmmaker Lucas McNelly and his work on his production company website: http://www.dpressproductions.com/index.html Thanks ( & love) - Jules |

About an hour short of the deadline, I sent in "A Well-Lit Room" with only one minor edit.* What follows is that story with a brief cover letter preceding it:
