Dr. Gory's record for the vinyl initiative prompted me to write this song. Oddly, it doesn't have anything to do with vinyl. But I think it resonates with his intent for the collab. I feel nostalgic for a time when life was more visceral and less virtual. I tried to capture some of that longing in this song. I wanted to explore how technology is shaping humanity without passing any judgment about it.
This record started with the desk drum circle and evolved really naturally, because for me that collab bridged the gap between the visceral and virtual worlds in a meaningful way. Here, I just tried to be in the gap.
I don't know if it's any good, but my heart went in it.

Inspired by Kelli's example!
Made using my webcam and MovieMaker. The first time I've done anything like this, ever. I haven't edited video since I was about 13!
(This is some epic procrastination!)

there's a lot of different ways this thing can go, but this is the first, and i've tampered with it enough. also, we still have tons of material to add, which sorta begs for alternate versions anyway. (i'm happy to have a project that goes on indefinitely!) the original size on this is 13" x 13".

Inspired by the works of Jay Munly, I wrote this song/parable.
I encountered this homeless man in Philadelphia early one morning in March of 2009. He was kind, compassionate, and only had one real possession: an old radio.
He was kind enough to be allow me to photograph him. When he asked what he should do I suggested he pick up the radio. It was the way he looked at it that will always stay with me. I gave him whatever cash I had on me at the time and never saw him again.
This picture will forever haunt me.
