This isn't really what I had in mind when I was first inspired to play with this piece. But I was somehow pulled in this direction, and since it felt like it was cooking, I took advantage of the opportunity to just have fun with it...As much as it's kinda unexpected dress in which to drape such a dark lyric.
The ideas are pretty well formed, but it's by no means "done". Like, it feels "over" before it should be, IMO...Despite the long ambient section at the end.
I'm putting it out today because I'm not sure I'll be able to spend more time with it in the next few days, and I might forget to otherwise : ) So yeah: Feel free to add new sections, parts, or arrange the parts I've created differently.
I'll be putting up stems shortly. Everything has been conformed to a consistent tempo, and even the non-drum part at the end is at tempo should you care to use it, so it should offer lots of possibilities.

I'm grateful enough to say I was able to personally thank and just share my admiration for such an individual. It's moments like this that you seem to question and reflect on your own life. 3 years ago my friend sent me a link to an art community that appreciated and welcomed collaborative arts. I owe a lot of my motivation, self-confidence, and personal success to HitRECord. I had the chance to personally thank Dan for the sibling power him and Joe had to take on such a strong beautiful force. If there is one thing I came home from Sundance with was that Dan loved and believed in this place to the fucking fullest. The way he spent hours with curious strangers to answer any questions they had and to explain our concepts and motives. My thoughts, support, and love goes out to you Joe and the rest of the family and crew. It's a bittersweet time for us artists. Although a piece of me hurts, I can't help but to feel alive. Today I am alive, aware, inspired. Just as I am now and now and now and now. May BurningDan live on in every victory ice cream bowl we serve ourselves throughout our lifetime and infinity. |

BURNING dAN brightly embodied that bold beastly bliss sometimes referred to as "the creative spirit." He was my chief collaborator on the foundational incarnations of hitRECord.org over the years and continues to inspire us ever the more. He would absolutely positively insist that we not let this bad news deter us on our collective mission. That said, I might not feel up to it for a little while. Watching this community blossom into what it has become never ceased to amaze him and me. We would regularly marvel at it and high five. Thank you all for that. There he is now pouring heaping hollowed watermelons full of love over each and every one of us. My tiny story + Tori's voiceover + Jen's doodle + JoAnna's music, thrown together with a REmix of Pauline's earlier vid = this. (The file is super large, so fingers crossed that everything encodes properly on the first try.)
