remilyp and I met for the first time today and in short order made a dance video for the shadow collab! It's hella rough and not all of it is on beat (this was an experiment unto itself o.o) but I really love what we did and we hope you both enjoy and REmix the hell out of it. WEE!

Here is my rough draft of a Public Domain-laced REmix of "They Can't Turn the Lights Off."

This version has quite a few changes from the original version (you'll even notice some of the animated sequences are in different places.) But the goal here is to tell the same story, but with some accompanying historical footage.

There's still a lot to do with this. In fact there are certain cuts in here that are sort of place-holders for better footage. I'm going to see what the community thinks of this cut and start to work on a new REmix tomorrow.

In the meantime, if you see a part you think would benefit from different P.D. footage (or animation) then please post a REmark and mention the time(s) and mention what you think would work better. If you have a link to some alternate P.D. footage on or off hitRECord, then that's even more helpful!

Here's a link to the "Lights On" collaboration where you can find or add more Public Domain clips for use in this REmix: http://hitrecord.org/records/293465

Thanks again to all the help in locating so much great Public Domain footage for the "Lights On" collaboration! You guys have been an ENORMOUS HELP!

This photograph is dedicated to one of my best friends. Though I met her only a year and a half ago, it feels as though we've known each other forever. Unfortunately, she has Cystic Fibrosis, and was recently in the hospital because of it, an event that scared me to death. I want to dedicate this picture to her to show her how much she means to, not only me, but everyone she meets. This one's for you, Lily.

HitRECord major highlights of the year 2010.
I have gone about as far as I think I can with this RECord. My editing software doesn't have any cool effects (besides the one where it loses all your hard work) (hahaha that's sarcasm) so I was hoping that maybe somebody with final cut could jazz this up and repost it by January 1st! =]

INSPIRED BY: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4dEWOB6THE

I am going to be REsourcing for a bit, if I miss something, please let me know!

p.s;
(fractaldust and I talking about this RECord)

PsYkoticCheErio (2:17:44 AM): I am trying to compile all of the main hitRECord events and videos of 2010 in to one HitRECordgraphy video. Inspired by that one video on youtube who did it with movies
fractaldust (2:18:02 AM): THAT'S AWESOME and joe wanted someone to do that too!
fractaldust (2:18:08 AM): everyone's gonna love it!
PsYkoticCheErio (2:18:11 AM): He did?
fractaldust (2:18:16 AM): yeah!!!
fractaldust (2:18:22 AM): well in his tumblr reblog
PsYkoticCheErio (2:18:22 AM): Where? Haha, I missed it!
fractaldust (2:18:28 AM): it was like SOMEONE SHOULD DO THIS FOR HR
PsYkoticCheErio (2:18:30 AM): I wonder if I read it and forgot I read it and then thought it was my idea to do it
fractaldust (2:18:45 AM): maybe you subconsciously saw it
fractaldust (2:18:49 AM): and later you thought it was your ide--
fractaldust (2:18:53 AM): OMG HE INCEPTED YOU
fractaldust (2:18:54 AM): LOL
PsYkoticCheErio (2:18:55 AM): I swear to God I don't remember reading it
PsYkoticCheErio (2:18:56 AM): LMAO
fractaldust (2:18:58 AM): LMFAO
fractaldust (2:19:04 AM): HE MADE YOU THINK IT WAS YOUR IDEA
fractaldust (2:19:07 AM): man shit is CRAZY
PsYkoticCheErio (2:19:14 AM): THAT IS GOING IN THE INFO!

I know I'm a bit early on this one, but I just couldn't wait to put it up! I hadn't seen H.S.'s work before, but she has some really beautiful photography and artwork so I'm excited to get other people to see it! I decided to use one of her photographs and change the coloring different ways to make pictures out of it--a difficult but fun task since I'm a writer, not an artist and the only photo-editing ability I have is on Powerpoint. I wrote the poem myself and had my wonderful brother do the voice-over, but the artwork is all thanks to H.S. Thanks to GabyVaughan for putting this collaboration together! I'm excited to see what people create in the name of Christmas. In the lovely words of H.S., the Art of Life is never sold, but borrowed. Merry Christmas, H.S. and hitRECorders, and may our record lights always be on! (also the words of H.S.)

Dr. Gory uploaded audio Sean's "Hummingbird" Reading, in a very good quality, so there'is not much to explain - I couldn't ignore it, and here it is kinda version 2.0 of hummingbird animation.

The "tiny stories" collaboration that wirrow started last spring is far and away the most active collaboration in hitRECord's five years. There've been thousands of contributions, and now we've compiled, curated, refined and remixed thirty-one gems into a beautiful work of tangible publishing -- The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories.

This short film adaptation of the tiny story "dandeLion" started with words from JustMeg. DaniBananas illustrated it, and I did some voiceover. Marielv did this beautiful animation while adding some piano from jstandifird, and lastly I took my best guess at what a lion might sound like sneezing.
