Text_notecard_shadow_top_left Fire And Smoke

There is a flicker in the dark
A glimpse of hope, an orange light
The flicker is energy,
Full of it
Turning into a flame
The flame is pure wild and free
It dances to the beat of it's own drum
A breeze blows by
It's exuberant radiance dances in the moonlight
It smiles with the moon
It's strength is remarkable
Fighting off any entity that stands in it's way
This flicker equaling a flame now becomes fire
Ferocious, unstoppable, brave, and new
The audience watches as it dances sending the message of freedom shouting,
"BE YOU, BE UNIQUE, LAUGH FEAR IN THE FACE"
The audiences cheers,
The flame dancing with joy
An adrenaline rush like no other
Creativity flowing freely
"BE YOU" the fire shouts
The shouting turns to a whisper
The crowd leans in closely
"I am me and me is you, we will never part"
The fire turns to smoke becoming one with the sky
Everyone watches as the fire disappears
No longer orange but every color,
Every being,
Every thing
The fire now burns in everyone

Again by heart, for Burning Dan

Text_notecard_shadow_top_left I wrote this poem after hearing about Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a woman in Iran who could be stoned to death for adultery. I was outraged by this and decided to write about it. I have been following hit record for some time, back before this new awesome site. I decided to finally join! I'd love to see what this turns into hopefully some visuals, music, looking forward to see it remixed. I'm finally recording :)

Here it is:

DON”T FORGET ME

She stands alone
Barefoot and naked
Her body shakes uncontrollably
She is nervous
Scared
She looks at their faces completely irate
All she can do is wait
What will be her fate?
“Adulterer”! They yell
She stands alone
Barefoot and naked
The tears flow down her cheeks
Making an imprint in the sand
“Say it”. The men yell
She has done nothing wrong
The accusations continue as she pleads for her life
“I have children, please don’t do this”, she cries.
“Adulterer”, the men yell
“Please I beg you I have done nothing wrong”
The crowd gathers
A man with a whip approaches the woman
SNAP
The sound of splitting flesh is heard
She cries out in agony
Is this where she ends up for being a woman?
SNAP
“Say it, say what you are”
She cries,
Thinking about her children, her life, Allah where are you?
SNAP
The blood drips into the sand mixing with her tears
SNAP
When will it be over?
SNAP
Death doesn’t seem so far
SNAP
My children I love you
SNAP
After 99 lashes she falls to the ground
Back bloodied and bruised
Pain like no other
They leave her in the burning sun
Moments later a guard takes her to jail
She is sentenced to die for adultery
She is tired
Weary and tired
She cannot lay on her back
Her face is worn from tears and blood
She sits alone awaiting her fate
More tears run down her cheeks
She hopes someone will hear her cries
And fight for her
Don’t forget me
Don’t forget me because I am a woman
Please, don’t forget me
