To me dodecaphonism has always sounded right for suspense and ambiance of alien places. This is one of my first attempts to use it as a soundscape. I wanted this to be both mysterious and alluring, but with a sense of emptiness and loneliness... kinda like when Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) is daydreaming as cosmonaut Spiff that he's reached an empty world and starts crying.

What alienness could we craft for it?

Piano - Francisco Daud
Percussion - Herivelto Brandino

I wanted to play around with something that was the sonic equivalent of smoke swirling in the air, some kind of musical arabesque.

This is a soundscape I wrote for the text "The instruction manual"by Julio Cortazar. When I composed it, I used the text in lieu of a video or images exactly because I didin't have them or the means to use them at the time. But I really think we could build up something upon these softened bricks!

In this file the text is spoken in Portuguese but you can find an English trasnlation here:

I set out to write a piece that was fun to play. End up writing this duo for piano and vibraphone based on prog rock, waltz, samba and jazz. In case you're wondering, "Brincadeira" is portuguese for "game" or "play"... my idea here was to compose as if a child matching blocks and generally playing with the toys at hand. Feel free to play with it!

Vibraphone - Herivelto Brandino
