Graduating alumni, fellow academics, Permit me to engage you in a bit of polemics,
Tomorrow, you leave the walls of this establishment And enter forth into the world as recent graduates - Future astronauts, doctors, lawyers and presidents.
Since you are probably prickly with anticipation, Allow me to offer my congratulations. And because nobody usually says it outloud - A few words on what the real world 's really about.
As of tomorrow, you'll be in a student loan yoke, Earning minimum wage and perpetually broke. You'll get your momma to frame your diploma And hang it on the wall for all to behold, Glance at it once a year and reminisce about the days of old.
You'll slowly grow fat, spend your free time in bed, And stress over cholesterol levels, car payments and rent. You meet a mate in a pub, consumate, procreate, Create progeny to graduate in 2038
With a remote in hand, morphed into the couch, Stuck in gridlock traffic, adjusting the AC up a notch, At the orthodontist, hiding behind a magazine, At the ATM covering your pin.
You'll likely get depressed, Develop an ulcer from the stress And a range of other issues to address...
But all will fare well, all storms settle down. You'll grow into bearded men and soccer moms. You'll start affairs and wars, marry and divorce, Life will run its course While you stand at the copier and dream of the golf course.
So don't worry. Don't live in a hurry. Take the pen in hand and write your story. Most waking seconds are wasted; spare a precious few. Looking for answers - the answer is you. |

I tried to keep it sexy while letting Kelly steal the show. My additions begin around 0:45. My favorite part is at 1:36.
Drop a letter down Stairs of alabaster
Wrap some newspaper Around your heart strings
To keep the sound in
Is anybody listening?
Give yourself space In boxes set on curb side streets
Shy away from the neighbors and Oh god the strangers, can it wait
You wait
Count down days in chronicles You wince at doors
As they close There they go
These rooms are empty
But these walls won’t stop talking
Can’t escape the memories
Up there with the funniest thing is
Can’t tell that you left from here
It’s raging cold But it’s alright
Is anybody home?
Down stairs hear the radio play
In a dark room locked inside away
From the truth of how you died
Is anybody listening?
“You can’t save her”
Is anybody home?
Now with MUSIC!

When I went to conquer you I found you malleable under my weapons of war. Like soft clay sinking into a riverbank, merging with the water. This was not the way I'd imagined it going.... |

Here's a chilled out instrumental I did. Could use vocals and a new mix. I'll upload stems later tonight.
Malicore's "The D Drop" with some added vocals. Needs to be remixed or maybe have some singers re-do the vocals? I think we can make this into something. lyrics:
everybody's talkin'
maybe we'll just play along
'cause there ain't no definition.
who can say what's right or wrong?
yeah, 'cause no one really knows
how the story really goes
so we just carry on.
lookin for the answers
you been travellin' far and wide
yeah, but everything you seekin
you can find it deep inside
yeah, 'cause no one really knows
how the story really goes
so we just carry on.
science, religion
it's all superstition
all of the facts are just based on fiction
a whole lot of theories
but nothing's been proven
why waste my time grovellin'?
i'd rather be groovin'
movin my body, the beat of my heart
music and poetry, collaborative art
brings us together like nothing else can
i wish i could show you so you'd understand
just like breathin'
i know that you can feel it
don't just read it
sing it like you mean it.
