I loved this haiku that Debi posted & wrote a little song around it!

I tried to just learn the pronounciations from Debi's recording that her Mum did, but I'm not sure if some of the inflections that I used may have changed meanings of words, so if you have any notes for my pronounciation etc.
please let me know, & I can re-record!

Thanks to Debi & her mum for sharing this beautiful haiku!

"Fallen to the earth
the flower's final farewell
rests upon its roots"

One of my favourite things that I learned from Japan's culture and tradition was "Mottainai"
You'll hear someone say this if you're wasting something - throwing away food, pouring water out, anything.
It's kind of like someone exclaiming "Don't waste that!", but that's not the direct translation
(I'm not sure what is or if there even is one!)

What I really loved about it was that it links in to the shinto belief that objects have souls...
And there is always a way that you could re-use something
or maybe just don't take as much in the first place (o:

I don't really have a specific story that goes with this I just really liked this whole part of japanese culture
& its something that has stuck with me!

I just re-recorded this a little more cleanly
and added a harmony on one of the lines I left out, the first time as per AlmostSound's request (:

"Your mouth. Your eyes.
They're showing all the warning signs.
A flame too close.
I've been burned but no one else will know.

You fire
And I'm your target again.
You fire
And aim straight for my heart again.
You fire
And you win...

Your hold so strong
Tricks me to feel like I belong.
So I'll hold my breath
The only part of me I have left."
