:/ not really child like; I just wanted to animate something
found the tales of the vampire cloud by kubi in the chara collab and it inspired me the beginning of the animation
:I I need to try something more ccolorful and fun... next time
done on TVPaint Animation
- Goobly & The Ghost (Music By Les Gordon)
Made with little synths and ukulele, aks me for audio stems !
- Getting To The Moon ( message capsule remix)
I love this song. I listened to it a bunch of times, then the melody got stuck in my head. I love the atmosphere of this track and the nostalgic feeling that it evokes. I imagine this as a song that you would find in a time capsule in the future; along with other archived human artifacts such as: vinyl records, VHS tapes, diaries, testimonials, postcards, old love letters, and such. I was going for a Space Oddity kinda of a thang.
A little more Gooblygag fun.
A little test animation of some paper-cut Gooblygag stop motion..
Hmf. The audio seems to be a tiny bit off, I don't know why that happened.
A stop motion done with paper and a sharpie.
I think this story would be really fun if we kept the animation to drawings that are more crude child-like renders. I did this little test with a chalkboard sort of aesthetic, but the whole animation could be child-like drawings in different mediums on different surfaces such as: markers on lined notepaper, finger paintings on newsprint, chalk on a sidewalk, crayon on coloring book pages, etc.
When I first heard the audio done by CautiosTrain of "Gooblygag" and that supercute voice of her five year old sister, I wanted to animate something, where we can observe the little girl while she is telling her story. I think, by that we have a lot of opportunities in showing various numbers of facial expressions, even if the "model" is very simple. The next thing I would love to show, is the world she is talking about, oh and everything is happening/building itself behind her back. Shadows or silhouettes that may appear, smoke, growing things etc. Maybe at some points she can interact with her phantasie world or react (body language, facial expressions etc.)
CALLING ALL ANIMATORS!
Let's create some 5-10 second TEST ANIMATIONS for this awesome RE: Childhood contribution "Gooblygag & The Ghost" (http://www.hitrecord.org/records/703923.) Once we identify a visual style for this story's world, we can remix it into an Animated Short Film.
Please contribute your records to the collaboration here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/1018603
Here's how YOU can contribute to this collaboration:
ANIMATORS: Create 5-10 second Animation Tests by taking a piece of the "Gooblygag & The Ghost" audio record and animating it. You could animate it in 2D or 3D, try Paper Cut-Out Stop-Motion, or do Line Animation.
You can create your own characters for this collaboration, or check out collabs like the Character Collab or Monster City.

I needed to cite so many wonderful resources please let me know if I have left any out!
So I had this idea for combining "turn over the leaves 2" by Kimshuttle & "Skip and the turtle" by MadisenMusic. I loved the thought of the man reading a children's story. It could be his own child's story, or perhaps he just needed the kind of cheering up that only kid's books can do. Anyway, I'm not the best illustrator in the world, so I doodled some stick figures instead, as I wanted to put this together with a few images to show what it might look like & I thought I'd upload it to the site in case anyone would like to take the idea further.
- The man's eyes going from left to right, as if he's reading.
- The illustrations in the book being childlike (wobbly lines, colouring out of the lines etc.)
- Some of the illustrations moving, such as the bump on Bobby's head growing as he talks, or seeing the rocks actually skimming the water.
- I also wanted to animate the man's arm extending to put the book away at the end.
Anyway, I'm not in a position to spend much time making this right now, but I'm really keen to see it in a finished state & I thought someone here might like the idea & might play around with the two RECords together.
