In any case, this is a beloved recipe from my childhood and one of the first things I ever learned to cook. I always thought it was a traditional Texan dish until I realized that nobody else had ever heard of it. So I intend to remedy that.

I was at the Renaissance Festival this weekend and, at an open-floor music show, where no girl under the age of eight appeared to wear anything BUT sparkly pink dresses, one brave little girl boogied as a viking. While the other young ones needed prompting by older dancers to take the stage, this girl neither needed or wanted anyone's help. So, when I saw this collab, I had to honor that little girl and her incredible gumption.
