BigMarty's Collaborations

Text_notecard_shadow_top_left I'm a screenwriter, and I've completed a bunch of feature screenplays over the past couple of years. One of them is a romantic comedy called 18 MONTHS, which I wrote with my friend Ali Berman. (Which I think makes for a better romantic comedy, because let's face it, guys tend to be not as romantic as girls. :) My idea is to take this screenplay, and, together with everyone on hitRECord, actually turn it into a movie!

The story is about a 20-something comic book lover who tries to start up his own comic book shop, all while trying to balance his overbearing mom, his needy best friend, and his new girlfriend. It's 99 pages long, so it would probably come out to a movie that's about an hour and 40 minutes long. It takes place in a small number of locations, so it might be something that could be produced without too much trouble. There's also comic books that would need to be created for the movie, so all our artists could have a blast creating titles for the store.

I was at Sundance to see Morgan M. Morgensen, and while it would probably take a lot longer to make than MMM did, I know this would be an awesome opportunity for everyone here. Let's talk about how we could produce this - I can only imagine how cool it would be to shoot. (What if we had webcams running all over the set, while the "main camera" was shooting the actual footage?)

Now I realize that there are other collaborations that are about creating a script, and those are amazing. (In fact, I'm joining the disaster movie collab myself.) The process might be a little more 'traditional' with this script than with one created collaboratively here, but I think it might be cool to try and figure out a way to make this one too.

So if you're interested, please read the script. Let's talk about things you like, things you don't like, things you think might be cool to put in, whatever. (And if you've never read a screenplay before, talk about things you might not understand. Scripts are a little different than short stories or plays.) Like they say, "if it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage."

We've already proven we can make shorter projects. Maybe this could be something big?

The script is viewable as two consecutive text RECords. I tried uploading it as a picture file, but that didn't work, and then I tried a video upload off my computer, but that didn't work either. So I'm back to the way I should've done it in the first place. :) The first one, 18 MONTHS script - text, is for the first 49 pages, and 18 MONTHS script - text (pages 50-99) covers the second half of the script.

Enjoy the screenplay!

Text_notecard_shadow_top_left hey everyone,

I think it would be a cool idea to make a music video, but to do it in the total opposite way you normally would. I say we make a short video (3 to 5 minutes), but to make it as a silent video. Then, once we're done with it, we create a song to "match" to the silent video we made, and voila! The Backwards Music Video.

Anyone interested in working with me?
