Re-Re-Record: VIDEO
A few notes on what I'm looking for in a video are:
Motion of some sort. Dancing, walking, flowers blooming, turning pages, time-lapses, ect.
High-resolution, good lighting, not too shaky, white background (or green-screen if possible).
The object or person doesn't move out of frame too much. Nice composition of the shot not too much cut off.
Just timelapse clouds on a cloudy day in LA... Been trying to figure out how to piece some timelapse together, but don't have a cutter's mind or patience... So I'll upload these lapses and hope somebody throws 'em together and makes something more than I could or would..
After a false start (camera = good, lack of tapes = bad) I got about 20 minutes of footage. This is the last minute and a half. It's going to take a while to compress and upload the rest of it, but I wanted something up so folks knew it was coming.
And I didn't realize until last night that the Exploratorium was founded by Frank Oppenheimer -- which is unbelievably cool.
I pieced them together to save time while uploading. It's three parts, though. Some stars, some sparkly shit and then a moon. =]
If decided to use, my suggestion would be between 0:00-0:45.
Note: If downloaded, it is, in fact, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, and not standard.
Part of my Colors-Album (http://www.hitrecord.org/records/27257).
From time to time I'll (hopefully) be releasing resource-records for a certain color. Just some random images, roughly cut together. Just meant as resources.
Objects used in this REC: glass red ball with air bubbles in it, infrared lamp, lava lamp
Music is one of the wonderful pieces by Albert.
the original 'beats 2' was created in v3 (sadly the original record didn't make the transfer to this version of the site). Joe was the first to remix it in his record heartREbeats from there it was resourced & remixed countless times.
one could say, i'm a little attached to this 12 seconds of 1s & 0s. visual beats for Joe's Heart Beat library. i adore this heart. it makes me smile a whole lot. not only because i simply love and collect hearts of all shapes, sizes & matter, but because it's my absolute favorite trinket that was left in the Photo Journal Collaboration box. xx forgive me... but you might be seeing a lot of this little guy around here for a while.
We found this wall near the Sacr
Started this Collaboration but a few days ago, and look what's happened already. Lisa contributed a blinking heart light and a standard beat sound. Harbinger contributed a less literal Resource from which I took one of the images plus the bass.
My mom gave me that stethoscope for the winter holy days...
Wanted to see what happens when I display the Hitrecord logo in my room. Magical things happend.
The transformation continues...
This is my first RECord and it was a lot of fun to make, so i hope you enjoy!
Forgive the clumsy stumbles, the elements were were working against our favor. Sand isn't the easiest thing in the world to dance on haha.
Destiny: Lexy Hulme (lula)
Destiny Doubleglass: Meagan Kong (solongkong)
Video inspired by line in Metaphorest's, Morgan M Morgansen’s Date with Destiny: “Capricitous califrag Morgan M. Morgansen stood in the longroom of his fourwalls, narcissising himself in the doubleglass.”
Since you never see Destiny “narcissing herself in the doubleglass" pre date, we decided to demonstrate what a personette looks like when she prepares. Though the dancey ditty was choreographed to The Ditty Bops’ "Your Head's Too Big" we added Madrond101’s piano audio from Morgan to set the tone.
What we were hoping to happen next:
-Narration (we would love a monologuey tale or a clowny song of a personette preparing!)
-Score (some tunes to portray her datesoon nerves – we love Madrond101’s piano, but that’s what plays when Morgan prepares. Destiny prepares to something that makes her lips cherried to the max!)
-Extra girly wardrobe room (ribbons and BOWS everywhere – pink – red lips)
-what else? Anyone else wanna RECord themselves personette preparing?

i am what i look like to you
but i don't know what you see through
you are what you look like to me
but i'm not sure through what i see
going by the show of shows
my eyes do not seem to be those
to trust to be whose just and knows
how anybody's story goes
so it seems its up to me
to decide through what i see
as it seems it's up to you
to decide what you see through
so if you like i will agree
to be the he through whom you see
as long as i can count on you
to be the who that i see through
you are what i love to see
and i look pretty good to you
and everything looks good to me
when we are what i'm seeing through

Hitrecorder "Devo" here, thought I'd write a blurb introducing our little project. On Sunday, I had lunch with my good pal Trevor (and now fellow hitrecorder "whiteninja") and suggested we make a video of some ridiculous dance moves for this "Dance Dance Repetition" collaboration on a site called hitrecord.org I had just joined. We started with a simple idea of this song inciting an abundance of uncontainable exuberance in someone. And then...it got random. Random slash awesome. If you're into that sort of thing. Which we are. Obviously anyone feel free to resource any pieces of this for any different versions of a music video! Enjoy!
And for fun, a play by play!
PRODUCTION TIMELINE :
Sunday:
Lunch which turned into dinner, whilst brainstorming possible short film ideas. Decision to do something for the hitrecord.org site. Dance Dance Repetition was decided on. Called a few peeps to join the next day, not knowing exactly what we were gonna do!
Monday, noon:
Playing around with shots of ridiculous dancing, and causing chaos. Shot till 4 when we lost the light, planned to meet next day to shoot more.
Tuesday, noon:
The idea had expanded EXPONENTIALLY. ;) Weren't sure we could get all the ambitious shots we had conceived, and with the amount of light that we had. Oh, but we did it! By the skin of our teeth. I don't even know what that means. (Let's make a collaboration having to do with skin on people's teeth. .....I'm sorry it's late.)
Tuesday, 11:59pm: Lock on final edit.
Wednesday, 2am: Uploading!
And, scene.
I'm working with windows movie here man and limited knowledge on this sort of thing, so no music -- ahaha. But that's why I have you guys, right?
now, what's next? ;)
(this is a rare chance to see the lesser spotted tori bird in her natural habitat. pyjamas! at least 90% of everything i make is done in the comfort of my pjs!)
These red things are actually candy (by the way, not very good one. they have a ginger taste (yeah, for candy, isn't that weird?) but at the same time they have too much sugar (they are filled with sugar, actually)....ahhh, and they smell awful.... :-) but still they're red ;-)
I tried to do here the "Sin City"-Effect as they call it in the Final Cut tutorials. if you look on google for it, you'll get pretty good tutorials on how to do this. or you could just ask here and I'll try to help you :-) I love that we can help each other on improving our skills - I have to say, that I'm really learning every day something new from the hitRECorders here, so for once - I might also be able to help :-)!
this is what i need:
for the mix&match collab, i want the piece to start with a stop motion animation showing the depth of the book, then rotating up to a straight front on view of the book cover, followed by the opening of the cover. (this video shows roughly the idea with the angles i want.)
but i want each frame to be illustrated by hand.
it needs to be fairly simple, just black lines on a white background. but i think there would need to be 14-20 drawings altogether.
and please include the hand turning over the page too, in a simple black outline.
(the Mix&Match book needs to be the dimensions of the first green book, rather than the black sketchbook.)
anyone up for making this?
I REleased it anyway if anyone wanted to use it. Might as well, my bro and I spent a lot of time and effort on it (mainly him).
I hope, Mr. Brewster, you don't take this as stepping on your toes in anyway nor think that I have perhaps similar silliness in the fact that you picked up the slack and shot a live-action Food Penguin yourself. Not only did you film a live-action Food Penguin in time to be REmixed, BUT you also REmixed all the REsources into an AWESOME "final" product for Mr. Morgan M. Morgansen. Kudos to you!
Again, if anyone wants to use this for any further REmixes, all are welcomed. If not, completely understandable. It took quite awhile to RElease this and there's already enough awesome Triple M mixes out there :)
FOR THE EDITORS WHO MIGHT USE THIS FOOTAGE FOR A REMIX:
Shot 1:
The appearance of the Food Penguin ("Morgan pinkified as the foodbringer apparated, penguin-dressed."). With the eye-brow raise this footage could last throughout (or most of) the description of him: "The gent was simply seeable as a skog – his downlooking headfront formed as if he ever had a facehole full of sour-yellows". There's another option for the description of his seeming "facehole full of sour-yellows", but I'll get to that later ;)
There's about 3-4 takes to work with.
Shot 2:
Triple M's POV. This shot is from Morgan's perspective as the Food Penguin takes his order. The shot last through the dialogue (low gibberish in terms of lip movement) beginning with "enquesting Morgan on his desirated eatplate", through "And how would you preferate your bunnybaby, sir; black, brown or bleedy?", through taking the Personette's order, through the holding in of the "snorgle-fit", through the drink order, and all the way to the wink (boomeranged gesture of the shutting of the solo see-globe).
There's about 3 takes to work with.
Shot 3:
The Personette's POV. All of the action and dialogue of shot 2, but from the Personette's POV.
I think only 2 takes to work with.
Shot 4:
When the Food Penguin notices the couple and their romantic going-ons and his exaggerated warm response. This part of the story:
"Through the hardclear of the eatroom, the formerly falsituous foodpenguin lifted his citrus lips at the passion-paired persons. How could a humanian fail to be emotated by such a celebratious encoupling?"
I think it's only 2 takes to work with, but they're long with plenty to use.
Shot 5:
An extra insert to potentially use for the same part of the story as the previous shot.
Shot 6:
This was the alternative shot for the intial description of the Food Penguin's seeming "Facefull of sour-yellows", basically his demeanor and specifically his sour-puss :)
A little bit of advice if you use this exaggerated close-up (which I've been referring to as the "Ren & Stimpy"/Spongebob close-up). I wouldn't cut away from Shot 1 (the Food Penguin's entrance) immediately to this, if you plan on even using Shot 6. I'd break it up with another shot. Just my opinion, but again, this is just a silly comical shot (well, it's all somewhat silly and comical I suppose) we shot for the heck of it. This particular shot may or may not be useful to you REmixers.
Also, though it's 2 takes, I do break throughout each take to try out different things, look up at the monitor to see if I'm in frame, laugh at something, take direction from my brother, etc. So watch out for that. They're not smooth takes; takes within takes you know. Especially at the end when I take the "penguin" metaphor literally; goofing around. My brother left that in because it amused him ;)

Well, sorry again it took me so long to RElease this, but I hope this footage is useful to someone. If not, it was definitely fun to make . Thanks for the fun project ;)
My rant on why I create art, or hitrecord!
dan experiences the cool spinny light thing at Burning Man. My favorite video from the playa last year.
Just my feet... so hopefully will match with something!
Here's my head for Tori's collaboration. I moved far away from the camera, and it still came out all head. Ahhahaha, if my head is too big, let me know, I will try again. And i'm not a great actress, i'm supposed to be holding my breath in the video.
(I did it sort of improv, so some parts don't match up with the music as well as others, heh. But I think that most of it is useable!)
Remember when Joe told us about Sundance

Still reloading my old RECords. Thought this one would be totally appropriate as tomorrow is THE day.
Let me know what you think.
Whilst babysitting my sister's children i pulled out my iphone and RECorded them then added some music from Where The Wild Things Are
And joe Yeah first time editing but I had the advantage of being around you and that crazy head of yours for 6 years now I hope some rubbed off.
Brother I can not thank you enough for what this community and you are doing to inspire the world (and me).
i want to scream HITRECORD in to the universe and see what comes back...
Thank you Mr. Moriarty
One of my favorite neon signs is this old burger stand near my house. They have excellent fries. Plus, they're called Zesto's! I don't know what else you could possibly want in a restaurant.
Don't know if this is too short ... just wanted to throw it out there.
there's a myriad of reasons to love this theater. the mighty Wurlitzer is one of them.
while waiting, for Amarcord to begin, i thought i'd catch a bit of the organist doing his thing. lo and behold a young woman entered my frame. instead of pressing stop and putting the camera down i left the button in its state of redness (apparently unbeknownst to her). i liked her silhouette against the red curtain.
it's longer than a moving snapshot but i just couldn't help myself.
there are several great movie houses around this beautiful city. this, however, is my favorite. seeing a film here is a completely magical experience.
some of the pages were skipped accidentally due to them sticking together. all the pages have been individually photographed and will be able to be viewed in their entirety... soon.
I think this was the first video I took with my digital camera. I wanted to experiment with the video recording feature on it (not the best quality unfortunately). It was over 2 years ago during my stay in Korea.
it could have been a white knuckled ride. thankfully i had my trusty camera to keep me calm. it was so beautiful i forgot that we were gliding on ice.
long record. perhaps too long for a moving snap. just holding a shot on my ride home.
most of it's a few prime blocks in the castro. love colored lights through droplety windows.

I made a record of my first interaction with the ocean.
I haven't been ice skating since I was a wee thing, I can't even remember how long. Some friends decided to go on February 14, so I joined them.
My rollerblading skills came in handier than I expected, and I didn't fall down once.
I know water has been videotaped before but i was on a ferry today and decided to hit the "red" button. :)
I made this stop-motion pencil animation for a friend who lives in Chicago. He makes movies about his hometown, so I figured i'd make one for mine.
Finally finally I managed to RECord Heidi at Zurich airport. She appears for 30 seconds and vanishes again. My commentary: "Endlich hab ich die Heidi. Geil!" (For the German speaking).
My friends Lauren and Ellzey on my roof deck playing with light up hula hoops.
This was one shot of many that was for a 60-second short film project for school. We didn't end up using this shot in the final cut because it didn't quite fit. But I still think it is a gorgeous and over artsy shot.
Like most things recently. I shoot these things and don't realize how impacted I will be by them until I sit and watch them.
After crossing over this little brook today, I thought hey that would make a great moving snapshot for Hitrecord, so here it is.
We spent a few really fun hours taking about 1200 pictures to make this movie. It starts off on the deck of my house, then travels up, and up, to the top of a mountain. Sort of... Okay, maybe it's just the top of my hill. HAH!

A walking record for the Take a Walk collaboration. This walk was taken in July 2008 in Haifa, Israel.

a moving snapshot, 01.19.09 taken in downtown san francisco at the corner of 5th and market.
I like to hit RECord regularly, but my motivation isn't regular. Sometimes I'm inspired to start a whole new thing, and sometimes I'm not. Tonight, I just wanted to Release a little something for the day.
So, I looked on hitRECord, and the first Collaboration I saw on the homepage was Take A Walk. In fact, I had already seen it yesterday, and so today, while I was walking from one Dance to another here in Sunny Park City, I RECorded a quick video of my walk.
It's far easier to Contribute to a Collaboration already in progress than to confront the blank page 1.
part 2
I took an adventure today. I only thought it appropriate to capture a segment for the Take A Walk Collaboration.
Watch as I risk life and limb for the goodness of mankind, and the hitRECord community.
Capitol Hill, Saturday night, friends in town, cowboy boots...time for a night walk.
Parisian snow, red shoes, cold cold cold...
I love walking on the bus while it's moving. My favorite is going to the back of the bus while it's lurching forward, but this one is of me walking up to the front to wait for my stop.
There's nothing too unique about this one--not a cool moon walk like iChar's, but my contribution nonetheless. I work with a girl with pretty severe autism on Sundays. She doesn't talk much, but loves to walk, so we spend most of our 4 1/2 hours together in a forest or on the beach. She was pretty vocal today. That's her "singing" in the background. It was a glorious sunny day.

Train coming out from underground and approaching a station.
It stopped raining a couple of hours ago, so my dog Beau decided we were going for a quick walk. (I had no say in the matter.)
Okay, I couldn't be less than you awesome people here so I took the walk too! Went down town of Stockholm and walked through the old gate to the castle!
Okay, so I finally found a park in the middle of Stockholm! Go me! :D
I needed to find a place where I can meditate and just be in nature, I think I just found my spot!
Sorry for the darned mishaps with "the trees is" geez... a child knows it's the trese ARE >< *Slaps self* too much fresh air? ... *groans at self while at it* oh well... can't re-do it now, can I?
This is part 1.
Just wanted to show you something beautiful in a big city and something most people visiting and living in Stockholm don't really see unless they have a car or sit on a bus for a good 20-40 min depending on where they are.
I was also quite optimistic wearing a knee long jeans skirt (since it, after all was +18 C (64.4 F ?)and I took my sandals off to walk barefoot on the rocks, they were at least warm! I just didn't count on the wind out there.. so typical..
And, if you notice the car behind me in the beginning, that's my aunt's car. She had a phone call while I did my little REC for this :)
Sorry for the boring bit in the middle there... if I knew how to, I'd cut it away... can anyone tell me a good program for cutting bits and pieces off a video you've made? That'd be great to know!
This is Part 3
