RE:Cities Selects
My Re:Cities selects:
- In a City Reading by Tommacarte
This is a beautiful poem about, what I think is the essance of cities, being among people and moving so you don't feel lonely. His reading is excellent.
- Time Lapse People & Time Lapse City Night Traffic by SFBakstad
Actually, all of SFBakstad's city time lapses are amazing. The time lapse perfectly captures the fast pace of the city. It conveys the ideal "feel" for a cities vid, in my opinion.
- Philly Time Lapse #1 by Mr. Anips
Again, the time lapse conveys a great feel, but this piece also does a nice job of juxtaposing two city streets, making for some interesting visuals.
- Cities Record - Philadelphia Skyline by Janet
A great little piece
- Tiny City 3D by Klonski
Very cool interpretation of a great picture
- Tiny City Stories by Gimik Jo
I especially like the bit of the flea market at :46
- RE: Cities & People by Claire Dee
Another great piece, she did a great job showing the crowds of the city at :59
- My Heart Belongs to Cities... by Ilze
Especially at :41
- Into the City by mostly_harmless

Me reading my poem 'In a City'.
An evening shot of downtown San Francisco traffic...Columbus Ave. The Transamerica Pyramid and the Coppola Building in the background...
Peeps at the indoor Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building in SF...result of a request from Lawrie Brewster.
I did a study in which I wanted to compare Broad Street and South Street in Philadelphia. I think Broad Street, which is currently the Avenue of the Arts, is usually not that theatrical despite the fact that it contains many of the biggest theaters in Philly. But South Street, which only has one theater, is a much more vibrant and essentially theatrical street. I only wished that more performance spaces and public spaces would be created on South Street. This is the comparison from one side of the street. I did an additional comparison from the opposing side of the streets and that can be found here: http://hitrecord.org/records/164908
just a small contribution to the cities project made with photoshop of my home city:) not sure if i should slow it down or not-
My city is old.
European.
Not London.
Not Paris.
Not that big.
Her walls are talking.
My city is full of stories.
(Some footages are older than others. Sorry for the not-so-good quality.)

I loved the videos, stories, music, voiceovers, etc. that everyone posted in the cities collaboration and so I attempted to put as much of it as I could together into a single video.
So, tonight when it was 34 degrees (C. that would be 95,5 F) I sat down with a bottle of water and decided to make my own tribute to cities. 4 (or has it already been 5) hours later it's 3 am, I have to wake up in 4 hours, but I did it!
Ah, also - I weren't sure how to 'resource' wirrow's tiny stories quotes, so it would be nice if someone could tell me.
Ah one more thing - I tried to keep track of all resources, but I might have forgotten someone/something.

Cut together a collection of videos on the Cities record. I worked on the colors of the videos a bit, and tried to line up some visual cues. Also grabbed the song 'Portland At Night' and looped it once-ish, leaves it ambient and open for a voiceover...have a go.
Let me know if you dig it, or have any other ideas...
Cheers,
Derek
