The witchdoctor told us that our mother might come back changed.
What he did not prepare us for was the possibility that should could come back-
When we dug her up she was wild.
She bit Emily on the arm so I hit her with a shovel-
It was invigorating.
We put her in a cage and tried to ignore the howling.
She sounded like hell and high water. But soon she stopped-
And then she started telling the truth.
All of the truth.
About our father, about her youth.
About her parents and there parents.
About use, about her feelings-
Her hopes and dreams.
She would only shreak occasionally-
And it went with the flow.
She told us why Dad left-
And why she was glad.
She told us about how scared she was for Emily-
and why she never trusted that boy.
She told Jake that is was OKAY-
and that she forgave him.
She told me why i was such a wild child-
and how proud she was of me.
She told us of what really happened to the dog.
And she was right-
It was kinda funny.
So we let her out of her cage-
and it is going great.
She dose not blink anymore-
And she still howls when she is attacking strangers.
But it gives her caricature.
We tell everyone she has a bad case of syphilis.
And they believe us-
They pity us.
But we don’t mind, we are glad we did it.
In the end, people will now remember our mother-
As the old crazy lady.
And not the old sad lady.
And she likes that-
she loves us for it.
