I enjoyed rachelb's recent vocal freestyle jam (even tho I don't tend to swear so much (except sometimes when I'm driving or really mad. What the fuck is my problem? - maybe I need to let the "f bombs" fly a little more freely : )

Here's a little VO shout out. Thought I'd upload this b4 I chicken out. Makin a fool out of yourself and taking chances is all a part of life : ) Rachelb, thanks for spreading all your positive energy. You've got mad skillz. Thanks again for keepin it real. Peace out...again by <3

not trying to offend anyone is offensive to SOMEbody right? and since you will naturally offend somebody anyway why not use language to it's fullest potential to express yourself?
in other words: FUCK CENSORSHIP!

i do use cusswords as a means of adding color to a story and to break up the monotony of speech. but my use of speech patterns differs on situations and contexts.
there are people (and i know many) who will not cuss under any circumstance and condemn the use of the word "shit" as being a big no no. yet i see them when tested under stress being the most violent in spirit, language and action. there is something to be said about repressing oneself.
worse i find people trying to cover up a cussword with another word that to them seems less offensive yet transcribes the exact same thing. to them if i say cocoanut butter instead of shit it is acceptable although i mean the same thing. i find that self-delusional and ignorant. they do not realise how many (to us) regular words a few hundred years back were unusable and how many words perfectly normal back then are now regarded as cusswords. language adapts and changes - repressed people do not. and with me that is ok as long as they do not try to change my ways.

if people only see HOW you talk and not WHAT you say you should change the people you talk to or not talk to them at all. that is my motto. to me it is the same as people treating me only by how i dress and not what kind of person i am underneath my clothes.
i like to dress well but i also like functionality so you will not see me in a high thread-count suit around the house all the time although i like how comfortable suit pants feel.
i also like to not dress at all but climatological and social restraints keep me from being as comfortable as i would like to. i do not fear nudity the same as i do not fear full frontal use of language.

Thanks for the NPR article link. Cool article. Yeah, I'm not sayin cussing is wrong, in fact if it's used to put extra emphasis or punch into a statement you're trying to make it can be very effective. I dunno, it's just never come that naturally to me for some reason. I was raised in a pretty open-minded environment and cussing wasn't really frowned upon or anything. I guess I just worry too much about being polite and not offending anyone.
